I know a fella (or several) who really get into their bourbon. (I'm a relative newbie.) He's moving into a new house, and I figured he ought to have a good place to store/display his bottles.

Quick and easy! Gather up a barrel stave, a couple of 1-by planks, and a couple feet of 2x4.

Let's add a drill, a 1-1/4" spade bit, a couple of big corks, a router, a few screws, and propane torch. Oh, and a laser!

With a little planning and measuring, we end up with a shelf for a half-dozen or so bottles, and a place for his girlfriend to hang her wine glasses. Here it is, loaded up with a couple of "big-market" bourbons, a wine I like, and a couple of local bourbons.

Fired up the laser for some custom engraving.

And while the laser was out, I etched a couple of slate coasters.

This was a fun project. I think I might gather some supplies and try to sell a couple of these. Drilling the stave for the cork inserts was pretty cool -- I could smell the bourbon!

For this particular one, I chose the torch instead of stain, to age the store-bought wood a little. For the next one, I think I'll visit the local sawmill and get rough-cut materials, then sand them down just a bit.

God bless America.

Nice work, a good looking display rack!

I'd proudly display something like that, if I had more than 2 bottles to put in it Razz

Pretty nifty.

I could see a market for that shelf,
Only scaled down for those airline sized single serving bottles.

That looks amazing! Certainly would have pride of place in any Bourbon connoisseur’s home! I especially like the way you did the torch, gives a nice overall effect.

Thank you for the compliments, everyone.

I delivered it yesterday, and the recipient was pretty excited about it. I saw the room where he's going to place it -- it's like a bourbon lounge / trophy room. Pretty cool.

God bless America.
