I'll guarantee you that although the Michigan State Police don't routinely drive at 145, they do cruise around 90-100 on freeways and are very well trained in high speed driving.

Regardless, I'll wager the police unit is better maintained and the officer is likely better trained than the 19 year old kid driving the <insert vehicle make/model>

Really big difference between 90-100 and 140+.

The energies, aerodynamics, tire and brake stresses, and reaction times are significantly different.

Most modern cars are fairly comfortable at 90-100. Older sedans/trucks might be a bit hairy at those speeds, but everything else should be OK.

I watch code blue cam and various other channels that pop up in my feed. Jacob Byrd of the Arkansas State Police is a big deal apparently I've been watching their videos on that "undefeated" Challenger that keeps eluding them.

Here is a good one from the Michigan State Police (rare as they typically don't like to release video) in weather no ARK Troop would likely engage a chase.

This is my favorite Arkansas State Police chase video. They must have an unlimited supply of cars. Evidently the pickup driver died.

After you watch a few of these, beyond a certain point the stupidity just gets...tedious.

And banal. I could see the 'fleeing motorist's' head roll down the highway and almost be unaffected.

That line from Jack Reacher comes to mind:

'Remember, you wanted this'.

This is a fun one... I do always hate it when they are chasing a stolen vehicle and the suspect totals it in an accident. You sort of see what is coming in this one.
