cslingerWhat is your favorite general purpose flashlight?
Streamlight Protac 90
-AA primary, lithium and rechargeable
-CR123 primary and rechargeable
-AAA primary, lithium and rechargeable in a pinch
-Decent throw but plenty of spill
-Good runtime
-Inexpensive
-tiny
-form factor allows for a ton of options / ceiling bounce
-Plenty bright
-Durable
It’s not my FAVORITE flashlight. That goes to the Surefire Tactician or EDCL1-T. That said as a great general use do damn near anything light it’s hard to beat for me.
Funny thing is I still have a first generation Surefire L1 that gets used damn near every day so I guess that gets an honorable mention.

reloader-1A lot of those lights are made in China.
Not the highest lumens etc but I have a couple Maglite LED flashlights. Made in USA.
It’s worth spending the $10-20 more, especially in the case of a flashlight that should last several years.

PerceptionEmisar D4V2.
~1 lumen low, 4500 lumen, 50k lux high, and everything in between.
"The people hate the lizards and the lizards rule the people."
"Odd," said Arthur, "I thought you said it was a democracy."
"I did," said Ford, "it is."
"So," said Arthur, hoping he wasn't sounding ridiculously obtuse, "why don't the people get rid of the lizards?"
"It honestly doesn't occur to them. They've all got the vote, so they all pretty much assume that the government they've voted in more or less approximates the government they want."
"You mean they actually vote for the lizards."
"Oh yes," said Ford with a shrug, "of course."
"But," said Arthur, going for the big one again, "why?"
"Because if they didn't vote for a lizard, then the wrong lizard might get in." October 19, 2020, 03:58 PM

This for me as well. I carry it in my pocket everyday. I keep a Fenix PD32 in my desk at home for a brighter light. I have 8 Fenix lights total (yep, I'm addicted) but these 2 are used the most.

TSEI have a Surefire Titan on my key ring. It is always with me, battery life is quite good, and has a low and high power setting.

Il CattivoMaglite. The damned things don't heat up like the Streamlights, and there are times when that can be pretty convenient.

This right here.
I used to carry a Streamlight Protac something of other it was a little big and got tired of swapping out batteries.
Think it was ArcWelder who suggested this little booger a few years back. I gave it a go a couple years back. It has been great.
Have even done a couple as karmas around here since.

powermadAll of my lights are Coast lights. They are a local company with excellent service.
The ones in use now are dual power with extra chargeable batteries with external charge ports.
I have a bunch of older alki battery ones too.
For work I use a Coast pocket light and headlamp.
I seen that they just put out a new headlamp that looked better than the one I had been using and asked the Mac guy about it as he deals in them.
https://coastportland.com/coll...amps/products/xph30rLater that evening he texted me and said it was under a rag on my box with an extra battery.
How's that for service?
Old Coast light with extra batteries and my new one.
One battery lasted the entire shift and I would burn through all 4 of the others in a day of constant use.
Detaches from the band, has a magnetic end and uses a USB-C charge port.
First switch position is Med, then high and low.
After a few seconds of being on, one press turns it off and you don't have to cycle through the modes to turn it off.
Press and hold for a couple seconds and it goes to 1000 lumen.
If you need to put regular batteries in it it uses two CR123 as well.
