5 or less that I write. I pay with online bill pay and credit cards. Incidentals with cash. ___________________________ Avoid buying ChiCom/CCP products whenever possible.

One a month to the lawn guy, and however many the wife writes to contribute to church. Also, we’ve had three big home projects that required multiple checks. I’d guess a couple dozen a year.

I pay all my monthly bills with a check. Don't trust credit cards. Iv'e never paid for a meal with a credit card. Cash for everything. When this China virus shit started,They said there was a coin shortage. I asked my bank if they had a coin counter. They said they were too expensive. I had over five thousand quarters. I rolled em up. Iv'e got probably 300 pounds of nickles dimes and penneys. Anybody want to roll them up for me?

I think we pay the yard guy with a check. That is about it. The fish is mute, expressionless. The fish doesn't think because the fish knows everything.

Combined, my other half and I write fewer than ten paper checks annually. My paper check writing typically consists of two checks for property taxes (summer and winter) and one for vehicle registration. I use cash more frequently than I use checks, but admit to using plastic more frequently than either for convenience and for the cash back programs (although we don't carry a balance). ------------- $

The only checks I write are for property taxes, as the credit card 'convenience fee' they charge is not something I want to pay. Everything else is by online banking. An interesting thing about online bill paying is that the bank actually prints and mails checks to any payee that isn't set up for electronic transfers. I had a missed Water Bill payment last year because the bank-mailed check never made it to the city. "If Gun Control worked, Chicago would look like Mayberry, not Thunderdome" - Cam Edwards

Maybe half a dozen. The only thing I pay by check anymore is the yard guy.

I liked to pay the occasional credit card bill with a check, just to keep them on their toes lol. Usually when they started pushing the “Go paperless” crap too often. I didn’t go all electronic until very recently. Now that the credit cards are paid off it’s 4 checks for taxes, (3 property, 1 state income), 3 car registrations and whenever I buy fuel oil. And the occasional time when online banking things are down and I’m in bill paying mode.

Like Appliance Brad, several hundred a year. We have a ‘travel’ debit card we load if a situation arises that only plastic is accepted. 100+ a year probably. I’m still old fashioned and still pay most my bills by check.

In the same camp as you Brad. Paper trail on everything. I do have a debit card but that's not for bills. Business CC is just for business, nothing else. I'd rather be hated for who I am than loved for who I'm not.

My wife has physical custody of our check book but I get visitation on Sunday nights when I pay bills that are due in the coming week A few months ago, she had an issue at Walmart (living in Rural America, we have few choices in places to shop so she goes there every couple weeks)where they wanted to scan her drivers license in order to accept a check. Now we don't let anyone scan our DL's. Even the poll workers on election days know that we hang on to them and won't let them swipe the magnetic stripe to put us in the poll book. Pam is a very detail oriented person and makes a list and buys nothing that is not on it when she shops. So she knows pretty close to what the shopping cart total will be when she goes to the store. So now, she is stopping at our bank (local owned one) and cashing a check so she can pay cash at WM when she goes. __________________________ Writing the next chapter that I've been looking forward to.

I use the Walmart app. It is set up with a cash-back credit card linked to this app (sounds more complicated than it really is). At check-out, whether a live cashier or self-service, a QR code pops up on the terminal. Use the Walmart app to take a picture of the QR thingy, and Bob's your uncle. All done. Just walk away. The itemized receipt is on your phone. Then, once a month, use a check to pay the credit card bill. הרחפת שלי מלאה בצלופחים

I haven't written a check or been in a bank in years. Last time I went in a bank it was to check the safe deposit box. The checks I have gotten I use Mobile deposit on my phone. Paper trail I print out my statements once a month and file in a folder. I do not miss paper checks or Travelers cheques one bit.

Your reference to Travelers Checks brought back some old memories and a smile on my face...got married in 1980 and drove to Florida for our moon and had close to $2,000.00 in Travelers Checks...at the time it seemed pretty cool...back then I only had an American Express card with a $50.00 limit I may go 2 years without writing a check and my wife uses very few also

I kept paper checks mainly for gun stuff or big house jobs where we needed $$ vs. using a credit card (landscapers, etc). That was until I had debits totalling $3k on my checking account in May 2020. Seems someone fraudulent used the ABA route # and account info off a check to steal from me and fund a prepaid debit card. I've had that account since like 1990. RIP. Check washing or EFT fraud is still a big problem, apparently. I don't use paper checks these days but use my bank's bill pay services or if in a hurry, run over for a cashier's check drawn at the counter. One reason I do prefer to mail a check is for high dollar gun stuff...USPS money orders are limited to $1k each and if need to buy more than $3k worth, you need to fill out additional paperwork for anti-money laundering reasons. I prefer to send large sums via a method where I'm the sender so there's no question with a USPS Postal Inspector if someone pulls a fast one (unclear if it's wire fraud or mail fraud if you have a bill pay service mail your funds and whether you're a party to that investigation).
