My first question from the original post and quote was... and what exactly is wrong with a 'Gun Culture'. I grew up in one and see no problem with that. My Native American Name: "Runs with Scissors"

The Wickenburg High School rifle team shoots high power competition (AR 15's), and recently took up F class. Those New Yorkers would have a cow if they knew that.

This is one reason why I despise democrats. They just have to meddle in everyones lives and every program because they THINK they know better. Truth is, they are foolish, ignorant morons that just want to control everyone and everything, but everything they touch, they turn to sh*t.

Yes, and no: Jeff Cooper is credited with saying that having a gun doesn’t make someone armed any more than having a guitar makes him a musician. Marksmanship is a critical requirement for truly being armed, and if someone can’t shoot a target rifle chambered for .22 rimfire well, it’s very unlikely he will be able to shoot any other rifle particularly well. My first exposure to formal firearms training and competition was with single shot 22 Long Rifle rifles in high school and that experience was the foundation for all of my shooting skills to this day over five decades later. There are other ways to become a good marksman, but the discipline and precision required of small bore competition is one that is particularly well suited for older children. “I can’t give you brains, but I can give you a diploma.” — The Wizard of Oz This life is a drill. It is only a drill. If it had been a real life, you would have been given instructions about where to go and what to do.
