So many things to go wrong - and imagine the cost to implement

A drone system designed to confront a school shooter within seconds could soon become a frontline defense in classrooms across America.

Texas-based Campus Guardian Angel has developed the technology which stations drones inside schools, ready to deploy the moment an emergency alert is triggered.

The drones, all controlled remotely at a central operation center in Austin, Texas, are stored in charging boxes inside schools.

Once activated, they are designed to fire powder pellets to incapacitate a shooter within 60 seconds and buy time for local law enforcement to arrive at the scene.

Campus Guardian Angel founder and CEO Justin Marston joined "Fox & Friends First" on Thursday to detail the process.

"In mass shootings, most of the shooting happens in the first 120 seconds, and the majority are over before law enforcement arrives on the scene… You've got to be there already, and in some of the joint tests we've done with schools, even when law enforcement's on site, we still get there a minute before law enforcement can get there just because we're staged throughout the building," he said.

Marston compared the system to sprinklers in that the tool to neutralize the threat is already on-site and can be deployed at any time.

He also said the approach is cost-effective, amounting to around $4 per kid per month, but that amount drops off with volume in larger districts.

"So to protect your child with an air force during the entirety of their time in K-12 education would cost about the same as a one-way domestic economy flight ticket," he explained.

"I think most parents, as you say, would be very happy to have this type of technology. I hope you never need it, but, if you do, it could make the difference in your child's life."

Marston said Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has already approved pilot projects with the drones in three counties across the Sunshine State and private schools in other states are currently working with Campus Guardian Angel to secure their locations.

Ooooooor, and hear me out, we end these bullshit "gun free zones" and allow those who already have licenses and permits to carry, to actually carry. Somebody has found another way to scare the Wine Mommies and bleed them, and they'll line up for it.

It would take at least that long for somebody to react to the threat, raise the alarm, activate the drone, send it out to the scene and pepper the shooter with powder pellets, would it not? Fuckin' stupid.

Why wait - deploy them thru the school on sentry duty active at all times - mutiples so while some recharge others are on duty!

A very good friend of mine is a drone pilot for his Sheriff dept. A neighboring county called him for a barricaded gunman situation. That department flew their drone in to 'mitigate' the situation and he shot it down. They wanted him to bring his over and try again.

The answer was no.

Point being firearm vs. powder pellet firing drone flying in a confined space likely won't end well for the drone.

My local school district has trained and armed teachers throughout the buildings.

Big signs at the entrance doors warning that some teachers are armed.

But then, this is Wyoming.

Another 120 seconds pass, while multiple gunshots are heard...

"Here it is! Who knows how to fly this thing?"

"I THOUGHT YOU DID! WHEN WE ASSIGNED IT TO YOU, YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO PRACTICE WITH IT!"

"Umm, well, I guess I forgot. Sorry."

"Well, does ANYBODY know how to fly it? NOBODY? Fred, what about your science students, can one of them fly it?"

"Uhhh, let me think. YEAH, little Johnny Cooper is into that kind of thing, I'll get get him!"

Another 120 seconds, then Fred brings Johnny into the office. Johnny is terrified over being dragged out of the classroom to the office ("What the hell did I do now?"), but his eyes light up when he sees the remote control.

"Oh, COOL!"

"Johnny, can you fly the drone?"

"Oh sure, Mr. Johnson!"

Johnny grabs the remote and switches it on.

"Uh oh."

"WHAT!? What's wrong Johnny?"

"This thing says the drone's battery is dead. Didn't you leave the charger plugged in?"

"Yes, I did! Oh wait. Maybe that outlet is on the light switch in the storage room. When the lights are out, the charger can't run."

"Well, SHIT! No drone! Where's that damn SRO at? I haven't seen him in forever, does he just sit in his cubicle and play video games all the time?"

"The SRO? There is no SRO, we de-funded him 3 years ago when we bought the drone."

I think this is the best solution available.

"Once activated"? The drone gets called to launch from another location not the scene of the shooting? Whats the lag time between shots fired and time on target?

Those “shots detected” systems might make sense.

As would some kind of security camera which the police could access - I assume schools already have cameras.

If your “friend” worked for me he’d be dusting off the old resume if he pulled some shit like that. That is what drones are for and obviously he’s so poorly trained he doesn’t get it.

It’s been that way in Utah for over 30 years. You can also CCW on college campuses and athletic events.

When my grandfather was in elementary school, he and several of his friends brought .22LR pistols and rifles to school. They were kept along the wall with their coats.

When my parents were in school they had shooting clubs and shot on school grounds.

When I was in high school about 1/3 of the student population brought slug guns to school, but kept them in their vehicles during deer season IF they showed up to school at all.

Today, every educational institution is essentially on full lock-down, like a prison. Kids are NOT any safer.

We don't have a gun problem, we have a STUPID PEOPLE problem. The guy selling the "solution" is just looking for a BIG GOVT Payout.

Don't most Schools have LOTS of Doors ? Seems like that might slow the Drones down.
