Still a damn site better than our base boards. Plus our local electric coop has a lower rate on the dedicated heating/cooling circuits for all electric homes like ours.

Update:
Contractor was here last Thursday installing a 240VAC 50Amp circuit for the mini-split installation. My breaker box is a 200Amp job so the add on was simple. Hook up was to the reduced rate heat meter.
Today the contractors are here to install the Mitsubishi 3 ton Hyper-Heat heat pump system and the 24k and 6k btu heads. They say it is a 2 to 3 day installation job.

I will be interested to hear how it turns out. I have a 90 year old duplex. I live upstairs and it was updated years ago to Central A/C.
I have tenants downstairs that have a window unit but I am looking to update it to Mitsubishi mini split. It seems like a better option than tearing out the ceiling to run duct work or going under the tiny crawl space under the house for duct work.
I have a few SIGs.

Are you sure they installed a 50 amp breaker?
The 3-ton, MXZ multi-zone, heat pump has a MCA of 23 amps with a MOCP of 25 amps.

Don't know what you're looking at but the Mits 3 ton (36k) Hyper-Heat unit requires 50amp
And yes that is what my electrician installed.

Bald1, is that your Teddy Roosevelt caricature hanging on the wall under the indoor head?
I got two quotes yesterday for my 2 bedroom 1350 square foot rental unit. $13k for 2 head Daikin and $25k for 3 head Mitsubishi. I will be getting more quotes.
I have a few SIGs.

Yikes! That quote for the Mits is outlandish. Mine is a 3 ton Hyper-heat unit with 3 head capability and required "plumbing" to the interior head units on both the main and upstairs locations. Lots of twists and turns including cutting through the upstairs master bedroom wooden balcony porch. Installed cost was just slightly more than half your quote.
Installation was done by a "Diamond" rated Mits dealer with decades of experience. They did an excellent job.

Funny how the only thing I saw in that room were the Magnaplanars.

Haven't tried it as humidity for most of time around here indoors is 30% or below. Now during summer heat waves and periods of heavy precipitation it climbs well into the 80%s outside but again indoors it remains much lower.
