My how this game has changed. No center or goal lines. No circles. It amazes anyone would play goal without a mask. And, the old style clock. That was a treat. Thanks.

I remember the fans calling Terry Sawchuck a pussy for not wearing a mask as a goalie. They published his face without a mask and you could see the damage.

Do---or do not.
There is no try.

The game from that era is almost unrecognizable. Before the 1928-29 season, teams couldn't pass the puck forward at all---only lateral or drop passes were allowed. In 1928-29 forward passes were allowed in the defensive and neutral zones, and in 1929-30 forward passes in the attacking zone became legal.

This film is from 1934-35 or 1935-36.

Jeezus…how big is the rink!!! Eek

For the most part, goalies didn’t need to wear a mask because the stick blade wasn’t curved, which made it very difficult to elevate the puck. I think it was Bobby Hull? (RIP) who first put a curve on the stick blade.

"Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil... Therefore, as tongues of fire lick up straw and as dry grass sinks down in the flames, so their roots will decay and their flowers blow away like dust; for they have rejected the law of the Lord Almighty and spurned the word of the Holy One of Israel." - Isaiah 5:20,24
