We started doing breakfast smoothies. The blender I currently have sucks. You put the stuff in and it chops the bottom stuff up and pushes it into a wall and the blade stops connecting with anything. When that doesn't happen and it actually does blend it bogs down, it's just not powerful enough. We were looking at the Ninja thing at Sam's Club but I wanted to ask here first. What's the one to get?

That's a car payment. I guess I should have asked what's the one to get that won't break the bank. Regardless, thanks for the suggestion.

Too soon old, too late smart |
Bought a refurbished Vitamix last year because an Oster did a poor job. The price is ouch, but the performance is superb. Watch some of the demos on YouTube. Never heard of a blender that had enough power to make hot soup.

That Ninja is decent. We replaced our 2nd Ninja with a Vitamix Pro 750 https://www.williams-sonoma.co...%7Cvitamix%20750%7C9 There is really no comparison the Ninja lasted a little over a year. Our Vitamix is likely 7 years old now and would have likely gone through more Ninjas costing more than the. Itamix. The Vitamix is pretty cool. You can cook with it. Yup, friction cooking!! You can make some awesome soups piping hot out of the blender. ———————————————— The world's not perfect, but it's not that bad. If we got each other, and that's all we have. I will be your brother, and I'll hold your hand. You should know I'll be there for you!

I do not know what a car payment is, we drive older cars. I've seen the Blendtecs for sub $200, probably closer to $250 on sale at Costco. I've made tinctures out of very woody roots of herbs, and the machine does a great job. One of my kids loves the Peppermint shakes Chick-fil-A makes at Christmas. I figured out how to copy the recipe and we made it today. Drop the whole candy canes right in with the ice cream and it turns the candy canes into dust. When I bake whole wheat bread, I put three cups of whole wheat in and grind the flour with the Blendtec. It takes about 3 cycles to make the flour as fine as I like it.

Vitamix or a Certified Refurbished Vitamix. These things will blend like nothing else. It is powerful enough to heat up the ingredients to make soup if you run it long enough. "Prepared in mind and resources"

I have a Ninja, was given as a gift. If I didn't have that, I'd get a Vitamix. Both are good, can handle a variety of food stuff. Lately, for winter time, I've been making a bunch of soups using my blender.

My wife decided that "we" needed a Vitamix, so she bought "us" one for Christmas about 4 years ago. It's gotten used at least twice a day for breakfast smoothies. In addition to smoothies, she makes her own peanut butter, brochli soup, etc. The thing just keeps hammering away. I could probably use it as a wood chipper. ------------------------------------------------ "It's hard to imagine a more stupid or dangerous way of making decisions, than by putting those decisions in the hands of people who pay no price for being wrong." Ninja has been fine for me. Crushes ice very well for smoothies, blends fine. I have no issues with it and worlds cheaper than vita-mix --------------------------------------- Life Member NRA “If you realize that all things change, there is nothing you will try to hold on to. For the $80, I think I'll try the Ninja and if it flakes out I'll save up for the Vitamix. Thanks.

We bought a refurbished blendtec a few years back. The seal on the bottom of the jar had an issue that caused some light smoke. Called blendtec and they sent a new jar no questions asked. We were well out of any warranty, so thumbs up to their customer service. If we were in the market again, we’d only consider blendtec or vitamix. The vitamix is quieter, so that’s nice.

I did the same thing- a Vitamix refurbished model. I am AMAZED at how well this thing works. It’s as if I’m REALLY blending for the first time. I used to teach a class where we used them to turn fertilizer prills into a fine powder. Damn things would eat bricks. Totally worth the money. ________________________________________ -- Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. Back, and to the left |
I've had my Vitamix for 16 years. At that time, they had no competition at all. I think its almost two horsepower. It hasn't missed a beat or lost a step. But they are expensive, that is certain. Get the Ninja if it fits your budget. But if you use the hell out of a blender, you'll likely use up enough of them to have bought a Vitamix after about six or seven years. That is quite a while.

Strange this thread popped up since I was in the market for a new blender this last week. My second NutriBullet died so I was looking on-line and at stores - Walmart, Bed, Bath & Beyond, Kohl's, Best Buy and Lowe's. I've known about Vitamix for years, and I almost purchased a refurbed one at a home show. I think I already had one of the first NutriBullets at the time so my wife wasn't on board with me getting another daily green goo blender. After all of my researching, I just went with price and because my wife wanted to put it on our Best Buy card. I ended up with a Ninja Smart Screen 72oz Blender, and I should be getting it today(Tuesday). I will report back after using it. Retired Texas Lawman

Had mine for years, also had the rubber gear break and they sent me out new parts for free. It’s done great since then.
