Photos are disappearing in hours.

I don’t pay for any service with them but I haven’t seen mine disappear yet?

Is it a known issue?

I am wondering as well. I saw other’s not showing up, but mine were fine. Tomight it looks like mine in the dinner thread were there for a bit and then now not available.

The message says to “Upgrade to Premium” so maybe after you have a certain number of images with them for free, they then want you to pay after that limit. I will have to see what they charge for a “premium” account.

Working just fine for me. And, I'm just using their freebie account. Yes, PI has had intermittent loading problem, but I've never lost an image from the site. Something I cannot say for Photofucket.

I too use PI freebie account and never had an issue until today. Maybe it is a glitch. I used to love Photofucket until they did what they did.

A 3 year plan with Post Image Ultimate is $125.64, which is $3.49 a month. I didn’t see any restrictions on the free account beyond the size of a single file not being over 32MB so I don’t know if this is just a temporary glitch. I will wait and see, but if I have to pay to host pics then I don’t think this rate is too bad as they have to have servers to host images.

I may be misunderstanding the OP's issue. Is it that pics from it don't show up on these pages, or that his stored pictures are disappearing from his account? I had the latter happen to me - more precisely, the entire site disappeared - with Fototime a few years back, and this was a paid site.

I'm assuming he's referring to pics not showing up here from multiple members to the point they are getting this recurring post in response:

I can’t speak for the OP, but all of my pics are still on the Post Image Website. It is that now ones I posted today showed up for a bit on here and now have a message with no image talking about upgrading to premium. I have 485 images on their site and wondering if I have exceeded something. I will research more later unless someone else has/gets an answer.

Look closer by trying to pay. They're only taking crypto currency for payment.

They're having reliability problems like photobucket did before they went down the toilet. Only taking cryptocurrency could be a move to hide cash flow from creditors.

I have thousands on Postimage and have had 4 images disappear in the past month. They all were uploaded with no expiration, upload fine, I grab the link, post it, and it appears on Sigforum for less than an hour. When I go to post image, the photo has changed to their infamous blue screen and it shows a 35 day expiration. As an example, 2 out of my last 4 uploads to my jokes folder have disappeared:

Wow. Yeah I didn’t click on “pay” to see the options and now did after your post. I don’t do cryptocurrency so that will be a deal breaker for me if that is what it comes to. Sad. As with you, it is only the last couple of images I just uploaded now having this issue.

ImageShack. $20/year (pay by credit card). Utterly reliable. Hosts avatars. Other features too. I’ve used it for nearly a decade.

I may have to go that route. I have Imgur and it just took me a while to figure out how to post an image on here but it worked.

Wow... bummer. I'm in the same boat.
I guess you get what you (don't) pay for.

I've said it in every repeated thread we have every year or so about yet another free image host dying:

The days of free image hosting are over. Kaput. Terminated. Finished. Dead. Deceased. Gone. Expired. Passed on. Extinct. Resting in peace. No more.


This isn't 2005. That business model is not sustainable any more, in today's envoronment of increasing costs and minimal ad and data revenue. That's been the case for years, so it should not exactly be a surprise to anyone. It's only a matter of time before any remaining free sites fold as well.

So rather than scrambling to find yet another new free host every year or so, only to deal with the same thing in a short time and then having to make yet another thread lamenting what a hassle it is, simply pony up the couple bucks a month for a paid image host account. (I use Imageshack.)

It's money well spent for the convenience and stability, and hardly going to break the bank.

Currently ImageShack costs only $20/year. But as the free photo hosting sites dissolve, I suspect its annual cost will increase.
