Are we changing the clocks back for the last time?? Login/Join

Was having a casual conversation today w a friend and he said that this is the last time that we are turning the clocks back. He said spring forward and we will no longer revert to dst

Is this true?
Personally I hope so, I really do not like the change in times.
Was wondering if anyone else has heard or can confirm this

I doubt it as well, but given the choice, I'd like to be on DST all the time! Wink

Thinking that the Feds finally got permission from the railroad.

Could have already ended, but they were contractually obligated for one more time.

No. At least not as of today.

The Senate passed a bill earlier in the year to end it, but it has since stalled in the House.

There’s been a push to eliminate it but it’s still with us and probably will be out of sheer inertia for years to come.

I always thought DST was to keep the kids from having to wait for the bus in the dark. At least that's what I was told at one time.

Doesn’t matter to me. I will still wake up and go to bed at the same time each day regardless.

We don't change the clocks in AZ. We get enough sunlight year round.

They changed it to standard one year when I resided in Wisconsin. Dark going to work and dark going home. Kids waiting in the dark for the bus. It lasted one season.

I am the Tomminator’s chauffeur…I have to get up before he does so I can schlep him to school. We are under two miles from his school and although the busses go right by our neighborhood they don’t stop to pick up. Complete bullshit.

AZ is one state that maintains the same time all year. Nicer have to reset clocks. But the downside is that everyplace else is moving around so the east coast is 2 hours part of the year. 3 hours for the other part. And CA is either 1 hour behind or the same time.

It gets wearisome getting phone calls from Florida at 5am.

California voted on a prop that passed, but basically just gave the rulers authority to do away with it if they decide to, so as far as I know it’s business as usual.

States can opt to stay on standard time at anytime. The bill that has passed the senate but not the house would allow states to stay on DST year round.

Don't think so.

This is a minor pet peeve of mine, and I've actually written to my congresscritter about it and sent her links to studies showing the "need" for it is long obsolete and that it actually causes other problems.

The issue, as others have pointed out, is that legislation to dump it is stalled and its unlikely to move forward because neither Republicans nor Democrats want to cooperate with each other.
