For a long time I wore Dockers as well. I preferred the Dockers Alpha pants. They fit well and looked good, at least that what my wife said.

You might consider a pair of GoRuck “simple pants”.

I will second GoRuck Simple pants. Especially the mid-weight ones. Expensive. Made in the US. I Was skeptical but tried a pair. They are better quality than anything else I have tried. You can wash them, roll up and squeeze in a towel and hang them to dry, in 30 minutes you can wear them. They fold super small. Will probably fit in a sandwich size ziploc when folded.

I have 2 pair now. Went to Scotland recently for 5 days and that’s the only pants I took. Wore a pair, put a pair in my bag. Washed them in the sink at the hotel. No problem! The mid-weight can look fairly dressy. Definitely not slacks, but they will pass with a nice shirt and shoes.

I’m a believer now. Will buy more. I was hooked on jeans. These are better. Better looking, very comfortable when it’s hot out. Great to travel with. Dries crazy fast.

Warning: website has cool expensive stuff!! Cool

I concur. Vertx has some good stuff. The fit is dead on for me. REI has them, or available online.

Use coupon code 'LLOD' for 25% off at vertx.com.
over labor day, they had a 30% off coupon.

ETA 30% still works as of this reply.. 'VTXVIP19'

The GoRuck pants look nice, but unfortunately, they don't make/carry my size. The Vertx pants, like so many others suggested here, look too "tacticool" for my purpose.

Dressy-casual. As a photographer, I want to be able to bend, straddle and clamber, but I also want to look decent with a blazer (and perhaps a tie).

I’m in Europe and wearing some Kuhl pants, try several different types as they have a variety of fits. Also, check out Carryology.com they have a sub section re travel clothes, some good advice and brands I’ve not heard of before

Costco sells a very inexpensive travel pant. I have three pairs in various colors that I wear when i'm headed for a long drive or a flight. They are around $15 or so.

I took my parents to Europe two years ago, my dad promptly bought one in each color.

I would LOVE to have some of these. Unfortunately, these are like most (all?) of the pants that Costco sells. Longest inseam offered is 34". Nothing available for us normal sized people Wink who need a 36" inseam. Frown

Take a look at Clothing Arts P4 pants.

Their pants look pretty good (the business travel pant), but I'll be home from my trip before my order would arrive.

Still looking...

I have the opposite problem with Costco clothing. Most of their items are for the larger and extra-larger fit. I'm a 31" waist.

They travel well and are good for hiking, climbing, bending and exploring. But there will likely be times when I'll need to dress up a bit on this trip. I'm planning to wear a navy blazer, and am looking for a pair of pants that will look dressy enough with it, but will also allow me to walk city streets, and to bend and otherwise get "awkward" when taking photos.

The temperature range at this time of year is lows in the 40s and highs in the 60s.

I'm looking at the Columbia Men's Ultimate Roc Pant, the UnionBay Rainier Travel UPF 50+ Tech Pant, and the Eddie Bauer Horizon Guide Chino Pants.

What are your recommendations? Again, the requirements are that they must look good with a blazer, but also be a good travel pant.

What's a "travel pant?" I spend a big chunk of my life on the road, and I've never heard of or seen "travel pants." Wear whatever you normally wear.

Traveling isn't any different than not traveling.

Or wear whatever James Bond wears with a blazer and call it good. Maybe those are "travel pants."

My travels usually involve jeans, hiking shoes, and lots of camera gear.

This trip will still involve camera gear, but less scrambling over rocks and canyons, and more walking/exploring city streets and environs.

Evenings will likely require "dress-up" attire. I'd like some pants that will satisfy both.

Is that too much to ask?

I practically live in them M-F and they’re perfectly good looking worn with everything from a t-shirt to a button down and blazer. Slightly stretchy material, hidden expandable waist, very breathable polyester, and they’re affordable (and often on sale).

Buy now, thank me later.

Totally agree. Not the longest lasting but work very well, look good, comfortable, and well priced, especially when on sale ($25.00)...

For all intents, a pant that has a few hidden pockets, where you can squirrel-away your passport/ID and some cash. For tourists or, infrequent travelers, who are going to be in areas where pick-pocketing is common, such features are nice peace of mind.
Clothing today is better designed, with enough features, where you aren't standing-out, holding up the cash register line as you're fumbling with your money belt, necklace or, whatever hidden contraption.
Call it travel pants or, elevated security apparel.

All good suggestions. I wear Dockers usually.
It’s good that you travel well-dressed. Americans are quickly IDed because most of us dress like slobs compared to Europeans.

I have been wearing Mountain Khakis for a while now. They are durable and come in a variety of styles, weights and colors. Usually about $80.
