Remember ?
When you put your finger in the phone hole and called the three or five stores to find what you needed?

sometimes they would offer to get it for you, if they could.

20 maybe 25 minutes max and you were done .

I just spent 35 minutes calling around the area for Switzer's brand black licorice.

yes Amazon can send me some, but the lady in the assisted living wants it on Monday Roll Eyes

oh I found the watermelon and the green apple , but no Black. Razz

no red vines and twizzlers won't work "they taste like plastic"

I ask you where is the progress?

Heheheehe…….I know the feeling sometimes. I'm pretty sure Cracker Barrel sells it in their stores.

Just order it same day or next day shipping if speed is that important to you. We've progressed to the point we don't need to waste a hour calling around, just put it in your Amazon cart and select the shipping option that correlates with your urgency and willingness to pay for speed and ease.

What I remember is not having a store within 70 miles that had what I needed, and having to either do without or figure out a substitute.

It's candy. I'm sure that lady will survive if she doesn't get it on Monday. Just order it through Amazon with expedited delivery like Skins2881 suggested.

Go back to the old ways, it still works. Ask the other ladies in the nursing home where they get theirs? You know ask somebody who might know. It used to be the small town phone operator knew all that stuff or the old guy at the diner or the hardware store.

If that does not work tell her on Monday that it is still Friday.

Switzer's...yum. The annoying thing is that it is made in St Louis but you can't find it anywhere there.

Maybe you can change her mind. I am a black licorice connoisseur. I’m sure she has her reasons fit living Switzers, but there are a few that might change her mind.

I remember going to catalog stores with my parents when I was younger. You would find what you were looking for on a shelf, or in a catalog, and put in an order for it. Some time later, about 20 minutes ,your order would be ready and you could pick up your item and leave.

I remember being on hold a lot and then the phone disconnecting.

These days I get the store posting online that they have 5 in stock, driving there and finding none. Asking gets nothing but excuses.

Going back a little farther, if you ordered something by mail, you were lucky to get your order in a week, and then only if you were <50 miles away. Any more, and it might take a month.

The "good old days" are right now. A hundred years from now, people will be complaining about not getting their order replicated and teleported in less than 30 seconds.

I don't recall such a thing. I remember a lot of calls being made to hear "No, we don't carry that" or "We can order it for you and have it in a week"
