I enjoyed a lot of his music. Sad to see him go so young.

He was a talented artist who will be missed by his many fans for whom some of his songs became part of the soundtrack of their lives. I for one have never listened to Courtesy of the Red, White, and Blue without wanting to stand up and yell.

I knew a few of the songs he made after 9/11, but I really became a fan after seeing him perform live at a FOB in western Afghanistan. He and a backup performer stopped at nearly every outpost with a helicopter landing pad and mostly secure perimeter. Compared to the fanfare of USO shows in Iraq, his two-man shows were absolutely no-frills but made a world of difference to those serving in the boonies. His library made it on a lot of our playlists after the visit.

RIP Mr. Keith

Didn’t listen to his music, but it’s obvious the man loved this country! High score on my list. Sad to hear he’s gone…

"If you’re a leader, you lead the way. Not just on the easy ones; you take the tough ones too…” – MAJ Richard D. Winters (1918-2011), E Company, 2nd Battalion, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne

"Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil... Therefore, as tongues of fire lick up straw and as dry grass sinks down in the flames, so their roots will decay and their flowers blow away like dust; for they have rejected the law of the Lord Almighty and spurned the word of the Holy One of Israel." - Isaiah 5:20,24

In 2006 when I was deployed to Iraq, I saw Toby perform in Baghdad on the 4th of July. Just him and his backup singer playing their guitars. He performed for probably 45 minutes, finishing with “Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue,” and then he was on to his next performance. He was a great artist, but even more importantly, a great American patriot.

I really enjoyed his music. The first song I listened to after hearing the news was Cryin’ For Me (Wayman’s Song).

Really sad to see this. I hadn’t known he was ill. Still, way too young. Enjoyed his music and respected him.

This is one of my favorites: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Fulz4ytZ54

He could do songs like this or love songs just as easily. He was a good performer.

This one hurts. One of my very favorite performers. A true entertainer and patriot, so many great songs that run from funny, sad, thoughtful, sincere.

Listening to his lyrics I get the feeling he could definitely relate to the “regular guy” and didn’t take things too seriously. He lived life hard seemed to enjoy it. I knew he had a terrible bout with cancer, glad to know he was at peace with it.

Man has earned his place as a country legend.
