Good thread. The wife was talking about doing something like this in the fall. We will see.

Sc is a hotspot because testing is at 100x what it was just a month ago. But in Greenville and Myrtle it's a real hotspot, not just numbers because it's also reflected in actual hospital beds filled by corona patients.

Monday both cities were discussing re lockdown. Yesterday it came down to Greenville enacted mask requirements and I didn't catch the final decision on Myrtle but they were hot about it because other states were blaming their hotspots on vacations to Myrtle.

njauto...you've probably seen this already, but I saw a little bit ago that NJ, NY and CT have issued a mandatory 2 week quarantine order for anyone returning from a trip to "hot spots"...one of which is our state of SC...

Yes I did. Thank you. I guess were just not meant to go far this year! I went ahead and canceled due to this imposed 14 day self quarantine. My employer knew where I was going so there is no way around it. Thanks for all the suggestions and I’m sure I will get there at some point in time!

Bummer you had to cancel your trip. I got approved for 20 days of leave and very well deserved if you ask me.
So we’re headed down next month.

When you do get to go again check out Dunes Village.

That is where we stay and have been very happy there.

What is your beef with it?
We had an absolute blast last summer. What am I missing?

I can handle Myrtle for a few nights - but if the wife were to say "Let's do a week" I would say no way.

IT is a mentality of people who live in the Southeast. When I lived in NY, going to Myrtle was a blast. Now I live 3 hours away, if given the opportunity to go to Myrtle Beach of go to Pigeon Forge, I'll go the opposite direction.

Twenty year ago, an older gentlemen told me that South Carolina has a three tier system of coastal vacations. Myrtle is the lowest, then Chareston, then your Hilton Head/ Edisto/ Kiawah. Hilton is a very different vacation from Myrtle Beach, and while the prices are not too dissimilar, the feel, food, entertainment, and for lack of a better word "prestige" are very different.

Myrtle Beach has a Los Vegas type feel, Charleston is similar to Savanah with great restaurants, history, and a tamer nightlife, and Hilton Head is more refined - great food and entertainment, shopping, and relaxing.

Different strokes for different folks. Before anybody shit's on my comments - everybody needs to know that North Myrtle Bech is not simply the Northern part of Myrtle Beach, it is a different Town with a different feel, and different visitors.
North Myrtle Bech is essentially North of State Route 22 and North of 48th street on the ocean side of the intercostal waterway.
