I am reviving an old thread. I have been using my old trusty Garmin 20 for a LONG time and it still works great, but I decided to upgrade.

I decided to go with the VIOFO A139 PRO. I ordered it from the VIOFO website, which I now regret. The site made it seem like they are in the US. Now that I placed the order, the tracking shows it is coming from China and could take 18 days! They are available on Amazon and would get here in 2 days and it would be easy if I had to return. I wish I would have known and just ordered it from Amazon. Oh well, hopefully it is a good dashcam and I have no issues.

The camera in my wife’s car died and I replaced it with a new VIOFO unit as well. It’s their newest camera with a “Starvis 2 Sony sensor”. Pretty impressive picture quality…so far so good. The Thinkware in my 4Runner is still ticking along, it’s been a few years. How they can keep working in the Texas heat is beyond me. I think it may need a new memory card though. I checked a video the other day and the image was a bit pixelated.

Purchased a VIOFO about one year ago for my F150. Very pleased. Check out https://dongar.tech/ and see if they make an adapter for your vehicle. Makes for a very clean install.

I've been using a Garmin in my Highlander for a number of years. It is a Garmin 55 Cam. I've caught a number of incidents over the years that I have saved. I forgot to save one Thursday. We were driving I-10/19 to Nogales when traffic came to a dead stop due to construction. The pickup in front of me didn't come to a complete stop until he rear ended the pickup in front of him. I took the breakdown lane on a quick lane change and noticed he totaled his truck and all airbags were inflated. Too bad.

I received my VIOFO A139 PRO and I really like it. You first install a static piece of plastic that adheres to the windshield well and then install the dashcam mount on it. I haven’t done it yet, but you should be able to remove and re-apply the dashcam with this static mount.

The video is great. I haven’t driven at night yet to test it as I rarely drive at night, but so far I give two thumbs up for this camera.

Garmin is the industry leader in navigation systems for General Aviation aircraft. I used their equipment for many years. The thing that really impressed me was, if I had a problem or a question, I could reach a tech support person easily -- a person based in the U.S., who spoke clear English, and was always, without exception, able to solve the problem on the first call.

I've had similar experience with the Garmin combination GPs navigator / dash camera model that my wife and I (we each have one) have been using for more than five years.

The outstanding customer support offered by Garmin will make the decision easy when I buy a new dash camera -- it will be a Garmin; the only question is, which model.

Black box my car is where I purchased my dash cam a Viofo 119 three years ago. I was really pleased with the service I received with the company, answered questions before I ordered and shipped really fast. The dash cam has been flawless and on June 19 of this year I had a vehicle who was driving very aggressively hit the front of my truck changing lanes and took off. The police came and I handed them the sd card. They downloaded the video and were eventually able to locate the owner of the car. So it was well worth what I paid for it.

They have them on clearance for $19.81 while supply last. The mini sd card to go with it will be more. The promo code is KT25 for an additional discount. At this price I just ordered 4 more to give away as birthday presents. On my order shipping was free.

Price just shot up to $139.00. Must have sold all they wanted to at the discount.

I have the garment mini. I think it would be sufficient in an accident when parties remain at the scene. But it doesn’t resolve plate numbers sufficiently for hit and run. Do the garmin drive units have better resolution at distance? Like the drivecam 76? Or smartcam 55?

Koreans depend on blackbox’s so it wouldn’t be surprising if they had better units. But I prefer to buy from an American brand if possible.

I just got the same email. I’m not disappointed or anything but at the higher price I’ll pick something newer.

Got the same e-mail. Now it may be better to order directly from Viofo or via Amazon. Viofo has some summer sales right now.

I should have ordered it this morning unless I would have had the same issue as you. It showed $19 but I chose to wait. Now it shows $85.99?????

If you order directly from Viofo, it is shipped from China and takes about half a month.
