doesn't having standards that apply to all equally make it diverse and inclusive?

One of the reasons why the ancient Roman army cut their hair short, besides for sanitary reasons, was to prevent an opponent from grabbing the hair in hand to hand combat. But hey, we know modern warfare never involves hand to hand combat, right?

Me, too!

I just wish my grandson would take his retirement. He is Special Forces, and is rated at 100% disabled due to wounds received in combat! And to think that that idiot in the white house is doing what he is doing, irritates the hell out of me. I have 2 grandsons. One is living with us, 100% disabled. The other, as noted, is still in uniform altho 100% disabled due to wounds received in combat. I dread the thought that he may be sent back into combat based on current and rapidly upcoming leadership.

Well I guess the lipstick would not be all that bad, in comparison to the ponytail lunacy. Pony tail just provides another way for an enemy to get a dangerous hold on the female soldiers.

People making these "decisions" need to be shipped out of our country! They have no concept of what our military is supposed to be doing, or how to do it.

Reminds me of the Bureau of Prisons. When I started in '81, we had self-defense and monthly, on shift proficiency tests of one move. Then it went quarterly. Then annually. Then we were taught to lie on our backs and crab walk backwards while kicking. One old salt, in my last annual training, shouted out, "What's next, ask 'em if we should spit or swaller?"

We should refuse to fight anyone who doesn't have a diverse, all inclusive fighting force.

I worked with a lot for MK1 female types as I was in signal and Civil Affairs...some actually gave a shit and would take advantage of this bullshit but the majority would be all over this BS....I have no doubt there will be meme that comes our showing a female doing her nails in full battle rattle....

Now as I said not all females would do that....I had the great pleasure to know 2 hard charging females...SSGT Rundy came to Korea out of the 82nd and in spite if her small stature could ruck with the big dogs.

Also Mejia SSGT type, she was one of the first female Air ASSAULT instructors....good solider and fun person....she also had hair down to her ass...worn in a very type bun so big she bought PCs a size or 2 larger than her head

someone remind me how this helps readiness??

Oh ya...never mind

I can't believe this group didn't catch that this is a Donald Sutherland line from The Dirty Dozen, where he impersonates an inspecting General officer.

Where ya from son?

I’m not going to shit on them over the clear nail polish. I knew several football players who used clear nail polish to keep from ripping their nails up. They weren’t trying to be pretty, pretty princesses. They were trying not to get half their nail ripped off when they grabbed a handful of running back when the ref wasn’t looking!

Army brass..."So, what color would you like to paint the barracks, while we watch the barracks burn to the ground." Apparently mental retardation is now a requirement for senior military leadership (and I use that term very lightly).

I’m not much for wholesale remembering movie quotes. Besides that, I don’t recall seeing the movie.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

“Some people don’t like change but that’s just how the world is,” said Sergeant Major of the Army Michael Grinston during a call with reporters. “It changes over time and we need to change with it. I’m not going to go into who voted and who said what, but this panel represented our force from all walks of life, and we brought in experts,” like dermatologists and psychologists.

What a crock of shit. That board "representing" the Army Personnel was composed of all women with the exception of one black male and on hispanic male. Really, that is supposed to be a representative example of the staffing of todays Army. Last time I looked the US Army seemed to be a predominantly MALE organization with a mixture of ALL races.

I will also note that there was a time when the ONLY haircut you were permitted was a Standard Service haircut that was quite short. Because there is a very real Tactical Advantage to a Buzz Cut when in hand to hand combat. Give your opponent a handhold like a pony tail and a skilled fighter can use that ponytail to break your neck.

I've stopped counting.

I'm sure one of our recruits would simply respond by hitting that enemy combatant...with his purse. Roll Eyes
