Although I'm long retired, I understand the trauma unemployment brings. Very happy to hear one of our members here has moved back into the ranks of the employed. Your attitude, no doubt, went a long way towards making this happen. Well done! And congratulations! Big Grin

Well done! Like you, I have been furloughed since mid March. I had money set aside and it looks like July i will be back to work. That was great thinking on your part and I sure hope it works out well for you!

Congratulations!

I got A permanent layoff due to Covid19 in April. Only the 2nd time in many years of employment. First time I found another job before I received a check.

This time; no such luck. This small town rural area has been devastated. I was already commuting 30 miles each way. Lord only knows what it will be now.

One local GE aircraft engines parts plant has laid everyone off. Rumors have it that due to the grounding of the plane model (737 Max?)that was sustaining crash issues, the plant will not reopen.

Going to be a tough stretch but I am a firm believer that when one door closes, another door will open. Hoping and praying for the best.

Congrats, good buddy! That’ll put a spring in your step.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

Thanks for all the replies. It wasn’t an easy decision but I am excited about the opportunity for sure and I should get to work on some really cool projects.

I know there are several of you in my position and I’ll be praying for you all. Hopefully most everyone starts getting back to normal soon.

When the going gets tough, the tough get going.

I wish I knew more folks like you. You did what needed to be done, are willing to look at it in a positive light, and I respect that. I hear so many people these days who don’t want to take a job because it’s beneath them, or the pay isn’t good enough, and whatever other excuse works for them today.
