The dealership I drive for just got a low mileage 19XTS in. It is FWD with the standard engine.

Any thoughts on this vehicle?

The XTS was a good selling Cadillac sedan. As long as the miles are under 100K and passes an independent inspection, you should be good. They are great vehicles and are pretty well built. The XTS is a lot less money than a CT6 which in my opinion is the best modern Cadillac ever built.

It only has about 30k miles. I am seeing bad things about the 3.6 engine.

Friend's parents had one. Got pushed into another car when rear ended & it caught fire.
Sample of 1, obviously. They replaced it with a XT5.

Based on the same platform as the Impala, but looks like a smaller footprint to me [Impala looks huge in the last generation].
The LFX V6 has been in a lot of cars [it's used in the V6 Camaro as well]. Coworker has the truck variant in his Colorado with nearly 200k trouble free miles.
It's becoming a popular Miata swap, instead of the LS V8.

Unless it's the turbo V6, then I don't know anything on those.

My father has a 2018 XT5 with the 3.6 V6 engine. He's 96 and hasn't driven it in 2 or 3 years, but my Mom still drives it occasionally so it's only got about 20K miles. They haven't had any issues with it at all. I'm not wild about the vehicle, but its been very solid for them.

Had another coworker with a CYS with the 2.0T.
Great car, but she had endless problems with the CUE system [stereo & such].
Enough that GM bought it back & she moved into a XT5.

Apart from that, which was a bug frustration, the car was fantastic.
A bit different to the XTS, being more of a RWD sporty sedan to the less sporty seeming XTS.

I had a 2009 CTS with the 3.6 engine.

Bought in 2013 with 18k miles.

Sold in 2020 with 147k miles.

Absolutely NO issues with the engine.

The 3.6 is a good engine. It’s been recognized by Wards several times.

“The GM 3.6L V6 has been featured on Wards 10 Best Engines lists multiple times, including in 2008, 2009, 2016.”

The Northstar is the engine you want to stay away from.

I' ve had two GM vehicles with the 3.6 engine. A 2008 Pontiac G6 GXP put 270000 miles on no major issues. Motor was still a strong runner when I traded it in 2020.
I still have a 2013 Buick Lacrosse with 170000 miles on it. Again no major mechanical issues, engine is still a strong runner.
The 3.6 V6 engine has been a very good engine for me!

I have the 3.6 in my 2019 CTS. Great HP and torques and runs exceptional. I have done a ton of research on the 3.6 before buying it and it seems to be a great motor. With 30K that would be a great car.

Have had several Cadillacs with the 3.6 and never a problem. Some have had AWD rear diff issues, but since the one you are looking at doesn't I think it would be an excellent car. Some of the early 3.6 motors would have timing chain issues, especially on vehicles that were not maintained, but GM improved the motor in 2012.

Yep, biggest problem in that car will be the Cadillac User Experience in the center dash. The touchscreen portion is OK and reasonably responsive, but the dash parts is all haptic feedback and you have to know where to put your finger on the Transformers thing to work your AC and heater.

Make sure you get use to it on your test drive and make sure you can deal with it before you buy it. There isn't another option (first party or aftermarket) to replace those controls.

Not sure about how good the engine is but a neighbor down the street from me had one for a few years and I loved the look of it. His wife wanted an suv so he traded his in. With only 30k on it, depending on the price, it would be a nice car to have.
