I was only 6 years old on D-Day, and not very cognizant about the War going on. My dad was doing war work at the Alameda Naval Base, but I had no idea what he did there. Several of my uncles served in the War, but I never knew much about what they did, either.

Bless all who served and who waited at home. Especially bless those who did not make it home, and their families.

I visited the Normandy beaches on 5 Jun 2015 and there was a lot of activity there at the time. I think every citizen should visit there are some of the American cemeteries. It is an awesome experience.

One of my uncles lost both legs that day on the beach. Big Red One, an outfit I would later serve with myself in the late 1960's. ask a few youngsters if they know of anything that happened in history on June 6, and see the blank look you get. I think it is not even in the history books anymore.

Amen!!!! I saw two survivors of the invasion today. I think that both had turned 100 years old.
