I was recently on a trip for a few weeks to a couple of islands in the Pacific. Got to meet a member, and that same day had one of the best drives of my life. If you have had to rent a car in these times, man the prices are steep. I needed a car for just a few days for one leg of my trip and most want a full week of fees even if you aren’t going to keep it for that duration. So I stumbled upon Sixt rental. Much more attractive rates than say Hertz or Avis, etc. So I gave it a shot. At the airport their office was extremely clean and painted in what I’d call KTM colors. Pretty impressive setup at least to me. I had rented an economy car and it was pretty easy goings to upgrade to a nicer vehicle at no extra charge. Instead of a Corolla sedan I wanted a Mini. I get to the garage to get the fob and put my luggage in the hatch and it’s a got damn JCW optioned up to boot. I looked around and many of their hire cars were signature type vehicles, higher trims, pretty unusual compared to the cookie cutter Hertz and Avis offerings of fleet type pedestrian vehicles. Cost was excellent, staff was excellent, and this company may just be doing some rebadging work but was definitely one of the better rental experiences of my life. Thought I’d give them a nod here for those who travel for work or pleasure. Give them a shot. What am I doing? I'm talking to an empty telephone

I've rented several cars on my trips to Europe and have always used Sixt. I agree with your review. I've never had an issue and have always been happy with my experience. They are making their way in to the US market as well. I think I saw a Sixt booth the last time I flew into San Antonio.

Did a quick check and the company was founded in Munich, Germany. There are some outlets in Texas. flashguy Texan by choice, not accident of birth

Agreed. Rented a car from Sixt in Germany to drive to Prague back in 2016 and the girl working at Munich airport was super nice...saw we reserved a vehicle way too small for the three of us and upgraded us to an Opel Mocha (like a Buick SUV in the US) for no charge.

I used them in France many years ago. No issues. I primarily use Hertz however in the States as I have President's Circle status with them. Hassle free renting all the time. In fact, I can't remember the last time I had to go up to a rental car counter and actually deal with a person when renting a car. I came across them when we travelled to the Caribbean. I think they are terrific. Because of Covid, we’ve only travelled in the U.S., but I use them if I can. The last time I used them they asked if I wanted to upgrade for $10. “Per day?”, I asked. “No. $10 for the week”. So, for less than $2/day, I went from a mid-size car to a Cadillac. I would love to see them expand in the U.S. _____________________________________________________________________ “One of the common failings among honorable people is a failure to appreciate how thoroughly dishonorable some other people can be, and how dangerous it is to trust them.” – Thomas Sowell

I've used then once or twice in Europe. They are often who you get when you book through AutoEurope. I also used them 3 years ago flying into DFW and drove a low mileage Corolla all over southwest TX and southeast NM. Picked up a fence staple on the LBJ ranch Called them. They made sure I could safely put on the donut spare and told be to go to a tire place for their evaluation. Limped back to a tire shop in Fredericksburg, got it patched and they reimbursed me for the repair! Everyone I dealt with was friendly and efficient. Harshest Dream, Reality

Rented a BMW M3 for a day thru Sixt in Munich a few years ago. Ran it up to 158mph on the autobahn. Fastest I have ever burned thru a tank of gas. Worth every penny! I have a few SIGs.

As he said above. John Cooper Works. Turbo 4, Brembo’s up front, upgraded suspension. If you know what a GT350 or Shelby Mustang is, the JCW is the Mini version of that. What am I doing? I'm talking to an empty telephone

In Santa Rosa I was talking to the SIXT counter agent while waiting for the Hertz agent to get back to the desk, and he asked what vehicle we got for how much. He said we could have rented a Mercedes for less from SIXT. So the next time we did. The C class had a smaller engine so acceleration was limited until you hammered the throttle. But the car was immaculate, the agents were friendly, and the price was great. And I hadn’t driven a Mercedes since the first gen SLK.

I want to travel a lot, but never tried hiring cars. Has anyone else had any good experiences or tips for finding better deals when renting a car lately? Would love to hear what’s worked for you!

I use National, mostly because we have a discount rate through work. Will give Sixt a look next time I need to rent, though. The Enemy's gate is down.

... after just 11 years. Robert, welcome! I've also had good experiences renting from Sixt. Several years ago, I had to go down to Monterey from San Francisco and needed a rental car. So I started shopping from my hotel room. All of the well known rental companies were insanely expensive. I found Sixt in the phone book and got a favorable quote on an economy car. I'd never heard of them but decided to give it a try. When I got there, they told me they were short on economy size cars and upgraded me to a brand new 4Runner... no extra charge. It was awesome. "Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." -- Justice Janice Rogers Brown "The United States government is the largest criminal enterprise on earth." -rduckwor

When I was in Miami recently for a family trip, I needed a car last minute and found https://realcar.miami/. They had some great options, and I ended up renting a Mercedes Benz S 500 for $400 a day. The service was top-notch—they delivered the car to me, and it was brand new and super clean. We took a few trips out of town, and the whole process was really easy. My kids loved riding in such a fancy car, and it made the trip feel even more fun. If you're in Miami and need a car, I'd definitely recommend checking them out. It was one of the best rental experiences I've had! This message has been edited. Last edited by: Phelen_Kell,

I used them in Colorado last year. It was a pleasant experience, with no complaints. Since then I have wanted a GMC Yukon Denali . . . This business will get out of control. I've used them a couple of times and thought they were terrific. As someone else mentioned, they are also generous with upgrades. The last time I used them, I can't remember what I reserved, but the agent said "Would you like to upgrade to a luxury vehicle for $10?" I thought she meant $10 per day, which was OK with me. But, it was $10 for the whole rental period, which was a really nice upgrade. _____________________________________________________________________ “One of the common failings among honorable people is a failure to appreciate how thoroughly dishonorable some other people can be, and how dangerous it is to trust them.” – Thomas Sowell
