It's 7:15 pm here and we haven't had a single trick-or-treater yet. Even last year with Covid we got a dozen or so.
Before Covid we used to get 25-30 on Halloween.

Main Street in Park City was slamming by 3pm with trick or treaters. We left before 4pm. But this is a traditional gathering where the businesses give out candy. Despite what it looks like in the photo, a ton of folks were dressed up proper for the occasion.

Tonight we will go around our neighborhood with the girls. We'll head out at 5:30pm. Our neighborhood is great. The kids get candy, and the adults get booze. I'm already tuned up, but the extra booze is always appreciated. Wink

Usually starts around 6pm while it is still light out for parents with young kids. Can last until 8 or 10pm. We have no rules or regulations here.

For the first time EVER, I have no candy to give out tonight. I have been super busy and totally forgot. I went to multiple stores today and none had ANY candy you would hand out. I printed out a sign apologizing that did not any candy this year, posted it on my front door, and turned out all the lights. I have been watching my security cameras and it looks like a slow night tonight.

Usually between 6 and 8 on October 31st. I had no one stop by last year.

This year I have a bowl full of candy, but so far no kids stopped by. It's 6:35 now.

Edited to add: And right on cue at 6:37 some tiny Marvel superheroes swung by asking for candy...

Here is is always th 31st. There may be a prescribed time but who knows or cares. Kids usually are out as it is getting dark, it gets busy a little before 7 and slows down a little past 8. We go inside when it slows down and turn the lights of at 9.

We enjoy it. We probably had close to 75 kids. Everyone in costumes and politeness was the norm. Almost every group was accompanied by adults which can turn into its own rolling party. A lot of us set up out in the driveway and it becomes a bit of a social event.

drive up to house, kids get out, get candy, they get in and drive 100 feet to the next house and so forth.

My house is on a street that is quasi sticks. It’s a solid 50+ yards between front doors of me and my neighbors. My wife took my daughter over to her dads subdivision to maximise the time. She ended up with almost 4 pounds of sugar. I had 3 door rings including some high school kids at 8:45 at least they were wearing costumes. and the house was fully lit up. The best are the very little ones.

Nearly 9pm here and no kids. Have lit pumpkins (plastic) to show I'm open, but no takers. Not surprised--most here take their kids to parties on Hallowe'en.

Not a single one. I was in the hospital with the Covid last year during Halloween, but no trick or treaters according to my wife. Year before that-only one.

I was outside a couple of times, no kids out and about in the neighborhood, none walking the city roadway behind us, and no cars, either.

Just quiet. Kinda nice, but I used to like meeting the youngsters. Oh, well....

We never get any trick or treaters. We have 21 houses in our neighborhood and everyone has 1-6 acres so I guess the population density isn’t worth it to the kids. There are too many trunk or treat type of gatherings where the kids can hit 150+ trunks in an hour.

Between 6-8 here in Temple. Moms and dads sit on the end of the driveway and have a few adult beverages while kiddos wander thru the neighborhood getting candy. My kid went around the corner with his other friends to trick or treat.

I had a great time.

Best costume was between Betelgeuse (12 yo) or Achmed the terrorist (30)

Well the last few posts are very depressing. What the hell, folks. Your kids should be out trick or treating. Got home 40 mins ago and the neighborhood was swamped with kids and parents with young kid out trick or treating.

Central California, and I never heard of any designated time or place. It's pretty much go wherever you want, and has been that way ever since I was a kid.

Lots of kids this year, but we shut the lights off around 7:30-8 since my wife is tired and I don't feel like answering the door.

This was an odd year. Normally the majority of kids come out around sunset. Little kids usually come out a bit earlier. If the sun sets at say 6:30, it will start around 6pm Normally it will go in waves and then down to a trickle from 8-9pm

This year kids started appearing around 5:15 (sunset at 6:35). I was still putting final touches on decorations and they were appearing. It was heavy for until about 6:45 then it just died. It did a light mist about that time then it rained hard at 7 for about 5 minutes. Picked up again until about 7:30 after the rain and that was it.

Normally the 7-9 crowd get progressively older with the HS kids bringing up the tail end. Smart enough to know people with left over are giving it away in handfuls. Their costumes can be simple or pretty creative.

This year I'd guess the oldest kid I saw was maybe 14-15. Most were under 10. Unusual because I normally see the most in the 10-15 range.

Could be the fact that this year's Halloween falls on a Sunday, and that people have work/school to go to the following morning.

Well, maybe, but it's a feeble excuse, at best. ToT from 6-8 pm should not interfere with any kid's sleep schedule. And very few adults go to bed at 8pm.

After more than a decade of declining visits each year (2019 and 2020 were both zero), last night we got about a dozen, a couple of groups of 2/3 teens on their own, and several families with younger kids walking together, parents staying down by the street watching their kids tromp up the driveway to get candy, adjusting costumes between each house, etc. This last has been the usual pattern in our neighborhood since the stranger=danger panics of the 70's. A couple more families bypassed our house due, undoubtedly, to our enthusiastic dog's frenzied barking (or maybe it was me telling him to STFU). Clark had, by far, the best time of any participant. Nice weather, and COVID lockdowns may have been contributing factors to the boost.

No masks, other than costume masks were observed.

Another big factor is that our neighborhood, which used to be almost all "traditional" families with several young kids each has been gradually aging until maybe two years ago when the oldsters had mostly died off and houses began being acquired by growing families again.
