They are canonizing a man who accumulated tens of millions of dollars on a Senator's salary. The man never really had a job before the Senate.

Harry had the taxpayers build a bridge to Arizona that enhanced the value of the 600 acres he had bought there just before passing the bill.

Harry received a $1,000,000,000 fee for getting a zoning change once. The IRS asked him for documentation and why he hadn't paid taxes on it. Harry told them to Feck Off stating the law firm that paid him took responsibility for paying the tax.

IRS asked for documentation and Harry said it was a handshake deal, no contracts, etc. The Law firm confirmed this. You try it and see what IRS does. Oh, and Harry's son sat on that particular zoning board.

Corrupt scum is how I would remember him.

Peter Schweizer: Harry Reid ‘Enriched Himself and His Family,’ Used ‘Fear’ to ‘Control and Persuade’

Schweizer recalled a quote from Susan McCue, Harry Reid’s former chief of staff:

Reid was always assessing a person’s vulnerabilities in order to “disarm, to endear, to threaten, but most of all to instill fear.”

“In 2005, he’s a senator, he puts in an earmark to build a bridge in Bullhead City in Nevada for $18 million dollars — that’s taking our taxpayer money — this was to join Bullhead City with Arizona, to take it across the river joining Nevada and Arizona. The Arizona delegation said, ‘This is ridiculous. It’s not worth it. There’s another bridge further down the road. It’s not needed.’ But then, when you looked actually at Harry Reid’s holdings, you found out that he actually had a parcel of land right next to — or near — the bridge that was eventually built with taxpayer money. And the land that was valued at $400,000 before the bridge was worth $1.6 million after the bridge was built, and he profited.”

Schweizer explained how Reid’s sons’ lobbying careers benefits from the late senator’s political powers.

He stated, “The other part of [Reid’s] machine was his family — a big family — his sons Rory, Key, and Joshua were all lobbyists while he was a senator. His son-in-law, a guy named Steve Barringer, was also a lobbyist, and if you wanted anything done in Nevada — anything frankly, done in Washington, DC, — you were expected to hire one of his kids to effectively lobby his office. This was a very aggressive enterprise that was very profitable for the family.”

Reid evaded disclosure requirements for elected officials by enriching his children, Schweizer said. Reid “was very smart about setting up his kids,” he shared. “In other words, the flow of money from the interest was not directly to him in all these cases. A lot of times it would go to his kids , and the reason [is] you don’t have to disclose.”

It used to be that someone had to be dead for something like an airport to be named after them, and decades would pass before the name was changed (if at all). Now, something like that is named after someone who's alive but retired, and as soon as they die the clock starts ticking for a name change. In this, Reid will almost certainly be remembered as he lived.
