AudioholicI've got a couple of those sharpeners left over from my school days. I guess that makes them pre-ban and worth a bit more?

Hound DogThe students cut THEMSELVES.
So, they ban sharpeners? If that is not a textbook definition of retarded, I don't know what is.
I mean, are they going to search EVERY student for something sharp and point? My god, they better ban wood pencils, too, while they are at it.
The leftists will NEVER learn that banning stuff doesn't change behaviour.

You have obviously forgotten what it was like to try to cut something with a pair of elementary school scissors. Those things can't even cut over cooked spaghetti.

It's becoming alarming clear that schools have no desire or intent to correct behavior of students. Based on recent experience the fear of creating anxiety in students following corrective action is too damaging and must be avoided.

Somehow the officials missed that. Couple that with making students use the school supplied sharpeners, good thing it will never occur to the students what they can do with freshly sharpened pencils.
"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

Av8nShooterI just sent an e-mail to the school district to make them aware that every single piece of paper has four very sharp edges that can do harm. I received a response that they will put this on the agenda for discussion at the upcoming school board meeting.
I hope they take action quickly.
