Let’s say all the basics are covered — the house is paid off, kids are taken care of, cars and day-to-day needs are handled, and the standard wish-list stuff is squared away. Now imagine you’ve got more than enough money to live comfortably without worry. What would you want then?

I want a high temp Auto-Chlor dishwasher. Like 60-90 second, commercial grade, dishwasher.
It’ll be used a couple times a day, but I’ll be happier than pigs in shit.

What do you desire?

I have all of that but I would probably buy a dream house on the ocean in a warmer climate and spend half the year there.

Did anyone win the 1 billion.

I would probably build a dream house in the mountains in a northern climate so I can enjoy all four seasons, and especially the winter snow! And I'd spend all four seasons there!

if I hit the lottery I would go to law school and then become a full-time volunteer Second Amendment advocate. I would also probably get involved in politics either as a party chairman or run for some type of office.

I'd pay people to do things. Instead of thinking, "I really need to get to that", and get it done this year or next spring, I'd call my person, and say, "I want this all done", and let them find the best people, negotiate price, schedule and facilitate all of the shit that needs done around me.

I sort of do this now with plumbers, because we found a good company and I've learned not to touch things with water in them. And I don't mind doing smaller tasks, but the big and complicated jobs kind of sit and stare me in the face every day. It's distressing.

First, build the new house the wife has always wanted. On this property, but further back from the road.

Second, build and equip my dream shop. Heat, A/C, hot and cold running water and bathroom plus hoist and every machine tool and shop fixture I've ever dreamed of having.

Then put a 8 foot high climb-proof stone fence around the whole thing.

EDIT: Thanks 92fstech I forgot about a range. Definite requirement. People have built too near all the places I used to go to shoot.

I'd buy land in the Wyoming mountains. Something with woods and a trout stream. Enough that I could shoot off my front porch as far as I could ever want, and far enough from civilization that I wouldn't have to see people unless I made the effort. I'd build a comfortable little cabin, and buy all the necessary tools and toys for that type of living. I'd spent my time hunting, fishing, and maintaining the property.

I'd also get some kind of overland rig so we could travel and camp and see other parts of the country, to include the remote spots. We'd also probably spend a fair amount of time travelling overseas.

I know a lot of people who claim they wouldn't know what to do if they retired. They say they'd get bored. I know exactly what I'd do, and I wouldn't miss working a job at all. I just can't afford to do it!

Now at 68 y.o.
I am resigned to two modest homes and people.

People to get crap done.
Personal physical therapist, personal trainer, dietician, ,
Chef, chauffeur, housekeeper, turf manager, arborist, financial manager(s)

Hydroponic greenhouse manager,

Nothing, not a damn thing.

You describe someone who achieved all I need in life. Maybe set up a trust fund for my children or grandchildren if I am so blessed. Having good food and a nicely setup outdoor kitchen and entertainment area are about all I would desire above the basics.

Actually being set for life would be more than enough.

But since you asked- One of these or even a ride on one would be really cool:

Not much more I need. Though if I had stupid money I'd put up a $100 million dollar reward for whoever can get the NFA permanently struck down.

1. Buy, staff and maintain free pet neuter/spay clinics on wheels to travel the area, put these all over the U.S.

2. Fund mercenary?/army? groups to kill elephant and Rhino poachers

3. Buy a new gun

I'd buy a Sperling and use the rest to give grants to kids that age out of foster care.

Unlimited funds?

Scenario 1:

  • Buy an island, maybe in the Med., maybe in the S. Pacific. About the size of Tinian or maybe even Guam or Crete with good beaches, diving, and terrain.
  • Equip it with 2x SMRs for power, and 4x desalinization plants (the good Israeli ones).
  • Build a resort community and other amenities (fishing fleet, 2xCVG(N) with Marines, airport, etc.)
  • Live the life with perhaps 1,000 paid personal staff, all of whom could grace the pages of Playboy.

Scenario 2:

  • Buy a yacht, say 260' schooner rig, with twin diesels for the doldrums.
  • Equip it with a helicopter, and 2x tenders suitable for shore visits and fishing.
  • Sail it to wherever the weather is the best.
  • Acquire luxury homes in each regularly-visited locale.
  • Live the life with perhaps 1,000 paid personal staff, all of whom could grace the pages of Playboy.

Scenario 3:

  • Buy a Formula 1 team, and associated factories, test tracks, etc., say Ferrari (without Louis Hamilton).
  • Expand the program into other top class racing series.
  • Win races and championships in all of them.
  • Live the life with perhaps 1,000 paid personal staff, all of whom could grace the pages of Playboy.

Yes, very selfish. I would certainly also support various causes as noted in previous posts.
