West Virginia pepperoni rolls
Thanks for the recipe. They look nice and decadent Smile
We're going to a potluck in a couple of weeks and I'm going to try my hand at making these.

These are quite simple. You can add whatever you like but the basic recipe is frozen bread dough and sliced pepperoni from the supermarket.

In the frozen food section we get a package of three bread dough loaves, and one package of pepperoni slices, your choice.

Let the bread dough thaw but not rise, otherwise you get light airy rolls and the pepperoni required will double and the juices won't infiltrate the dough while cooking.

I preheat the oven to 400 convection while I prep the rolls.

Pull off a section of bread dough, stuff in about 3 slices of pepperoni, fold over and then lay in 3 more slices, fold over and kneed into a ball, place on a greased cookie sheet.

You can make them as large or small or random as you like in size, I don't care for them being too large, prefer more pepperoni than roll.

Place them in oven for 15 minutes and check add time as needed. Pull let cool for 10 seconds and grab one because you can't wait, suggest though you heed the advice of your burning fingertips and wait a minute before shoving in your mouth.

Heres the inside, notice how the pepperoni infuses the dough with a nice flavor of the pepperoni.

Again this is the way they are made in WV, where I learned of them visiting my future in-laws and my wife bought me some at Bonnie Belles in Nutter Fort.

Here is the pepperoni and bread I get at Publix

This stuff is available here too, I have used it before, comes out great for frozen. Used it a number of times for various things, usually get the Parkerhouse style rolls. Great for garlic bread.

Colasessanos pepperoni rolls and pizza are to die for.

These are about 8" to 9" long. Fresh mozzarella cheese, square cut pepperoni sticks, sauce, and sometimes Oliverio brand peppers (Made up the road from Fairmont about 15 miles)

From Trip Advisor YOU GOTTA CLICK HERE

I've had about eleven teen dozen of those over the years!
I had been stopping there for years when in the area (I live in Charleston) before I figured out they will make them for you uncooked and wrapped up to take home and pop in the oven.

Now my family is hooked on them too. I do a pretty good clone of them too when I can't get to Fairmont for a while.

I've been making pepperoni rolls for years, I've used both homemade dough(wife makes it) and store bought(some pizza places will sell you dough). They are easy and quick and can be altered, I do ham and cheese and peppers and can remember a convenience store used to sell them with broccoli and cheese. I've lived in WV for the past 17 years and before that five miles east in Ohio and NEVER knew they were a WV thing, I only found this out when my brother in law out in AZ looked it up after having some while he was here visiting. I guess you're never to old to learn.

It's kids like you, who make this bus late.

I was raised in Bridgeport, but now live in DFW area...I really miss pepperoni rolls (Tomaro’s were my favorite) and Oliverio’s peppers. I drag a bunch of each back whenever I visit.

I keep coming back to this thread to drool Razz .

HRK, the picture in the OP, is that using all three bread loaves? I'm trying to figure out how many it makes per loaf if they're all made the size of the one dead center in the picture.

You start with 80% pepperoni rolls, correct? Those are legal. Wink

New market, 80% pepperoni rolls! For the guys "behind the lines".
