Hello. How long have you been a member of Sigforum? You might know me as a rather salty, blunt speaking, or perhaps sometimes or often angry person. It all depends on how long you've been a member and what you've seen me post. There have been some doozies. Hell, I haven't always handled it correctly as a moderator. But, I've been on a journey. Called life. Life will win. Sometimes anger is an ally or a comfort. Sometimes it will give you the power to see through a tough spot. Anger has long been a compatriot of mine. We're still friends, but I don't entertain anger as much as I used to. It takes a lot of energy, and it is very, very distracting. Anger is very self fulfilling. It is a release. It is an excuse. It feels good, it feels right. It is also a lever that can be manipulated, by others. What I see today, from the unhinged left, is people who have little experience with visceral anger, and no experience with actual violence. That, is a powder keg. The idea that words or feelings can transmit to violence, is poison. I hope I'm preaching to the choir, but boyo, don't let anyone else tell you when to be upset. They are trying to manipulate you. I don't care who you are. Live free or die, NH's motto suits me, and I'll afford it to you if you afford it to me. Just don't try to remake America how you want it, and we won't have a problem. If you want a problem, you get a problem. I've certainly matured as a person, but I still thing that a cliche Hulk quote sums me up. "I'm always angry." Except, what I mean, isn't how most SJW "woke" assclowns would handle that idea. There may well be a time for actual anger, and actual violence. Until then, be a gentleman. After all, it costs nothing to be polite. Arc. ______________________________ "Like a bitter weed, I'm a bad seed"- Johnny Cash "I'm a loner, Dottie. My ex-supervisor was one to always create strife and discord in the department. With some it got results but at what price? A couple of years before I retired he told me that my problem was that I was not aggressive enough, that I had "lost my fight", his exact words. I replied that I pick and choose my battles a lot more carefully, some battles are not worth the time. Same way I approach those diametrically opposed politically to me. Some are not worth the battle. -------------------------------------—————— ————————--Ignorance is a powerful tool if applied at the right time, even, usually, surpassing knowledge(E.J.Potter, A.K.A. I've been around for some time here, and view you as someone who is honest, genuine, forthright, and who bluntly speaks their mind. Regardless whether you're agreeing or arguing with me, I will always appreciate anyone who contributes honestly. Anger is only a feature of conversation, and more times you've used it very successfully to punctuate your points. But your point of this next generation not having any grasp of actual violence while having a fascination with continual anger 'is' a powder keg waiting for a match. ----------------------------- Guns are awesome because they shoot solid lead freedom. My interactions with you have always been positive. In fact, you actually defended me in a thread in the Lounge not so long ago. I've been around since 2003 and I don't have any recollection of you being anything other than a just and fair moderator. JP

Arc, I've been around long enough to see you in your more 'contemplative' moods, like tonight. I've also seen you get quite emotionally attached to points you feel should be brought into the light. Anger is a common feature often used to alleviate stress, give self-validation, and cope with the anxiety of life. One word of concern, though, something one of my congregation elders used to say. "There is nothing worse than a warrior without a war to fight." Getting angry for the sake of getting angry just makes you a mercurial person. And that is no way to live. I have never seen you in a state of anger that was so strong it clouded your perceptions about life and interactions with others. So at least there is that. At times, throughout the years, I've been a little worried about you, and have offered some emotional support(like, "You gonna' be alright, ARC?). This was met with disdain, and it was my fault for offering my unsolicited assistance in that manner as if I had life all figured out, or something. Sorry about those times. Anger is one of the least desirable emotions. It takes a lot out of a person, and often does not reward the angered person with peacefulness. I suppose I would add one more point. Don't let others dictate what you get angry about. Your life is not a plaything for others to manipulate. Own your own emotions. Thanks for letting be babble. H&K-Guy

Every day, I drive by monuments to the Revolutionary War, a few to the Civil War, and then others. I posted about living inundated by Revolutionary War history a while back. You'd think it would inspire patriotism, but the safety, wealth, and intellectual elitism here means that we've transcended violence, and that the solution to poverty is taxation. I live in MA, but barely, and I regret my career choice. I didn't expect to be a millionaire, but if you're in the trades and a democrat, you're a moron. The rhetoric of the left is ridiculous. I of course paid rapt attention during Obama, and if you were paying attention, the Marathon Bombings had a profound effect. How the Right responded to those years, and how the Left is responding now, is stark contrast. If you've been following me, you know I favor a Leonard Cohen quote. I don't want to fight. But if needed, "I'm your huckleberry." Arc. ______________________________ "Like a bitter weed, I'm a bad seed"- Johnny Cash "I'm a loner, Dottie. A rebel." - Pee Wee Herman Rode hard, put away wet. There's a difference between someone intentionally prodding or setting up a situation to push you to be angry and a situation that organically causes you to be angry. The difference is in maturity in discerning whether you are intentionally being goaded to anger. Maturity and being wise dictates you don't give what the other party wants to use against you. The second difference comes when you are justified in being angry is the maturity to remain in control. One doesn't need to be out of control or to lose their temper in order to be angry. Once can be passionately angry and still be in complete control. In both situations, maintaining self-control is key. "It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

You can control your anger, or other people can control your anger. Period. There is no distinction beyond what I've described. If you let other people control your anger, you are being manipulated. Learn to recognize when others are fomenting anger. Fuck those people. Whatever the cause. Arc. ______________________________ "Like a bitter weed, I'm a bad seed"- Johnny Cash "I'm a loner, Dottie. I'm sorry I missed that post. I believe I would have enjoyed reading it. I grew up in an area of NJ where I was literally surrounded by Revolutionary War history. I loved it, but it seemed most people went about their business and didn't pay much attention to it.

Oh it's somewhere back there. Try to drive by Lexington Battle Green every day and not feel like a patriot. Unless you're an entitled intellectual elitist cunt. It is amazing you get to drive by Lexington Battle Green every day. It says a lot about that place, that after having gone by it so many times, you feel the way you do about it. I get what you are saying. There is something about those Revolutionary sites that does that. Independence Hall was within walking distance of the trains I rode home to NJ when I was an undergrad. It was a special day if I had time to stop there and sit on a bench in the park on the back side of that building. The City was busy on the streets around it, but that park was generally quiet.

Hanging on my wall is a painting of the Old North Bridge. It reminds me of what happened there and the day we ceased to be subjects and became Americans. I cant help but wonder if there will be another North Bridge in our future. End of Earth: 2 Miles Upper Peninsula: 4 Miles

Arc, I deal with children nearly everyday and I use almost your exact words. I have found it isn't just with anger. I tell them: "You can control yourself or someone else WILL control you." Also, I do not envy your job as moderator but I think you do it fairly and well. ____________________________ Yes, Para does appreciate humor.

I've never had a particular issue with anger, but until my thirties I was certainly more of a passenger on the ship of my emotions than the captain. I know he's kind punchline these days, but I really benefited from one or two of Dr. Phil McGraw's books that came out when he was popular back around 2000. What stuck with me is that as adults, we are responsible for our emotions, and we can train ourselves to choose our attitudes and reactions. Learning those things and changing myself as a result surely changed the course of my life for the better.

From time to time I must remind myself of this quotation (originator unknown to me): “One minute of anger is 60 seconds of unhappiness.” Limiting my unhappiness is one of my major goals at this time of my life. “I can’t give you brains, but I can give you a diploma.” — The Wizard of Oz This life is a drill. It is only a drill. If it had been a real life, you would have been given instructions about where to go and what to do.
