Thanks -- has been a good day today. My sister is on her way back home and I head back tomorrow, but we had a good visit with my mom and she's in good spirits. It was really nice to see her happy for a little bit and I appreciate all of you helping make it possible for me to stay with her this week. My daughter is healing nicely, should be back to full activity in a few weeks. It's rough giving up the summer with swimming and playing but she's been busy with Animal Crossing on her DS Switch and building a new island in the game. I hope all of you have a great weekend and thanks again for supporting my medical expenses campaign so far!

Thanks katndog, been a lot easier to be strong with everyone helping and being so encouraging. Blew my mind today after dinner; my mom got up on her own from the couch and made it to the bedroom with her cane! That is huge for her. I really think being here this week helped and I’ve very grateful for that.

I wanted to thank everybody for a really encouraging start to the fundraiser, and more importantly for all the thoughts and prayers. Heading back home so I can check on my daughter and see how her recovery is progressing but she seems like she’s doing OK since she asked me to bring a bag of gummy worms! Smile

Damn sorry you’ve had this torrential downpour recently. Caring for one’s mom and grandma is sad enough but to have to care for your wife and daughter is just something you wish a man wouldn’t have to do. Hopefully all is well for all the women in your life going forward!

Here's the latest:

- Gran celebrated her 91st birthday with a small party at her favorite restaurant. Had a great time, managed really well during dinner, ate an entire Reuben sandwich and sweet potato fries! "I'm the oldest person you know! Hopefully we all get to do it again next year!"

- Mom had a good week after my sister and I looked after her for a week; appetite is back up, her botox injections for her dystonia seem to be helping; change in meds seems to have helped with her cognitive issues somewhat.

- Daughter has a minor infection but her doc wasn't surprised and said it's common afterwards, she's on an antibiotic, pain meds, and rest. She's asking me to bring her books and LEGO sets and has been updating me on her Skyrim and Animal Crossing progress (both are going well).

- Her mom doesn't have much of an update aside from her "chemo brain" fogginess is slowly lessening, so that's a good thing. She'll have some follow-up in the next few months, but as best as we can tell the docs got it early and the aggressive treatment likely means she beat it without having to do radiation.

I'll keep y'all posted on how everything is going and really appreciate you checking in. Big Grin

I appreciate you keeping it going and for all the positive vibes!

I'm also really happy to report my daughter got her bandages off this week and aside from a minor infection (easily fixed with antibiotics) she's doing fantastic.

Next step is cataract surgery consult for my grandmother the first week of August, so keep all the thoughts and prayers coming. Big Grin

Thanks to everyone for supporting me so far! I was able to take care of the anesthesia expenses for my daughter's surgery and it's a night and day difference with her confidence and her posture.

She's back to wearing cute dresses and t-shirts rather than big, baggy "boy" clothes and has a huge smile.

Her mom is doing well too, is getting stronger each day and has some cognitive effects from her chemo. Little setback with a fall, but she's doing therapy and finally letting other people help her instead of trying to do everything herself.

My mom sounded good this week -- no real changes positive or negative, am going to try to find some time to head back down to see her and give my dad a break from caregiving.

My grandmother's cataract surgery consult went very well. They've selected a lens, they can do canaloplasty while they're doing the lens so her glaucoma may be more well-managed afterwards. I wouldn't say she's excited about it, but she's not as scared either.

Thanks again for everyone pitching in to help, it makes a difference and has been a big help to me taking care of everyone!
