Older members of the forum will remember him well. He was quite a character. FBI Agent, attorney, convicted felon, talk show host, actor, author, Watergate conspirator.

As a convicted felon, he was not allowed to own any weapons. My favorite quote of his: "I don't own any weapons, but Mrs. Liddy owns 27, some of which she keeps on my side of the bed."

He was willing to take one for the team,, literally. RIP G Gordon.

Wasn’t he and Timothy Leary mortal enemies? Until they found the talk show circuit.

RIP G Gordon.
Liddy refused to implicate his bosses at his Watergate trial, saying “my father didn’t raise a rat and a snitch.” He served asentence longer than any of his fellow Watergate conspirators.

He believed in “omertà”. Hard core to the end.

I lived in the Phoenix area in the late '80s.
I was pulling into a gas station when a man, completely dressed in black, stepped in front of me without looking. I managed to avoid hitting him and thought he looked familiar- brush cut, cropped moustache, dark sunglasses. He definitely had a no-nonsense look to him. I thought it was G. Gordon and confirmed it when saw the plate on his Black Volvo- H2OGATE.

A very controversial figure who lived a very full life.

Plus he had a very diverse career:
Lawyer, FBI agent, talk show host, actor, US Army Veteran. He was also very well educated.

I loved his book Out of Control.

As I recall his mortal enemy was John Dean, who testified against him.

I miss his "Review and Commentary on News and Current Events" on his radio talk show. I also loved his appearances on Miami Vice as William Maynard (aka. Captain Real Estate), with his evil cohort "The Mung".

Spoke with him once. He was very gracious. I had family in the White House at the time of the Watergate shenanigans. His book Will is worth the read, as is Silent Coup. IIRC Dean attempted to sue him without success.

Liddy preferred not to be called Mr. as he always said that Mr. Liddy was his father.

RIP Gordon.

That was definitely true. I recall being quite put off by his ready admission that he would have killed various American citizens had he been ordered to do so.

I remember him responding to criticism of remarks he had made on his radio show about taking his grandkids shooting and using photos of the President and First Lady, probably the Clintons, as targets. He said he saw nothing wrong with it as it was a beautiful afternoon and he thought it was time to expose the kids to full automatic fire. His autobiography, Will, remains one if the best books I have ever read.
