Who are the makers for small pickup campers for full size pickup short box. I see Freedom campers. Who else. I don't need a bunch of stuff. Just bare bones, insulated. Thanks guys. "Practice like you want to play in the game"

Large, medium or small campers are anything but inexpensive these days. But they are cheaply made. For a small truck camper I'd search for used. The used camper market is usually pretty good. People will buy them and want an upgrade a few years later. Most major manufacturers will make campers of all sizes for all applications. Lance has long been the go to for high quality slideins. The problem is none of them are small or inexpensive for what you are getting. All of them are heavy, do your research. I would never consider one of them for a half ton truck, HD trucks will benefit from air spring assist. There are some pretty nice cap based builds on YouTube. That might be the option that fits your criteria. ----------The weather is here I wish you were beautiful----------

I bought a Leer shell for my first Tacoma decades ago, it was not bad. I currently have a 2010 Tacoma with a Snug Top camper shell, and it is showing a little wear and tear. "You might start with something like this? https://socaltruck.com/carpet-kits/" I use a very similar setup though home made. My mistake was getting a cab height shell. I should have gotten the higher roof model (I believe 4") Sitting up with the low roof is uncomfortable at best

Do those carpet kits pull out easily so a fella could use the truck as a truck when not camping? ________________________________________________________ It is long past time for a Convention of States. For a bare bones camper shell look at the Project M at Four Wheel Campers. Then it goes up from there depending on your taste and budget… https://fourwheelcampers.com/model/project-m/ ------------------ Eddie Our Founding Fathers were men who understood that the right thing is not necessarily the written thing. -kkina

I've always thought these were kind of cool. If I was doing a lot of truck camping I'd look seriously at one. ________________________________________________________ It is long past time for a Convention of States. Related: I once looked for a basic, slide in camper for the truck I then owned. Once I learned the price, I told the sales guy I was not interested. I made the mistake of giving him a card with my phone number and email address on it. Big mistake! What followed was several weeks of text messages, voice mails and emails from the guy. It got so bad I ended up calling the dealership General Manager to get it to stop. Worst high-pressure sales tactic I have ever experienced! I hope it does not happen to you! I think used, off color. I do agree, caps for pickups are very expensive.

We used a carpeted ,padded cargo bed cargo bed kit for 18 years. It was awesome. But we had an 8 ft bed. At our age now , would not consider it, not for a minute. They are for youngsters. "inexpensive" is a relative term. Ball park a price range for us please. Is your truck a 3/4 ton ? For a four day camp trip we had A kitchen footlocker A dry food tote, 2) clothing duffles A first aid box, camp stove and gas. An ice cooler and a good cooler. A shower tote, ( hygiene stuff) 2) 3 gal. Water jugs (tap) 4 ) 1 gal. Drinking water jugs. Is your truck a reg cab or super cab , I hope Safety, Situational Awareness and proficiency.
