Can they apprehend the guy first before we worry about his notes?

Agreed, perhaps use those notes to determine his likely whereabouts and nab him before blabbing it all over the media because a percent of people somehow believe they need to know everything. Roll Eyes

This has been reported in various places- the killer's wife also has a past connection with Tim Walz; she interned for him when he was in the U.S. House of Representatives.

I’d like to know that they’ve apprehended him. Don’t care a whole lot one way or the other if he survives being apprehended. Any manifesto or insight into motive might be interesting in a random curiosity kinda way after the fact, but first priority is stopping him.

Four relatives, firearms, cash, passports all in the same car well north of the epicenter of the murders?

They were headed to Canada.

But did your relative just commit 2 murders and 2 attempted murders and is on the run from law enforcement? I also need a bit more information, such as how many guns, passports in whose name and photo, and how much cash. She could be a co-conspirator or fleeing from him and the media. Keeping an open mind as this still early in investigation and the stuff found so far could be misdirection.

I'm wondering if this is first contact with her, or if she's already been interviewed and they caught her speeding.

I've gone back and forth on posting regarding this incident and some perspective and perhaps it is moot considering Boelter has now been taken into custody.

The former home away from home included Hortman's district and as such I had on occasion encounters with her over the years during various public events that politicos flock to "support" public safety. She was always cordial and as much as I didn't agree with her politics and hate what her ilk have been doing to this state, she, her husband and Senator Hoffman and his wife did not deserve this.

It had been reported by some of the more independent Minnesota news outlets that the duty sergeant in Brooklyn Park sent the officers who confronted Boelter and engaged him on a hunch once they learned who had been shot in Champlin. Brooklyn Park has some areas that rival Saint Paul and Minneapolis in terms of being ghetto and on a Friday night when Boelter was busy, they could easily have been busy with the more normal routine of fights, robberies or a shooting/stabbing elsewhere in the city. This time of year, things tend to ramp up once school lets out. I would also not be surprised if some resources were also in Champlin as the cities share a border and Champlin is night and day different in terms of their police department size and call volume and could easily be taxed responding to the incident at Senator Hoffman's house.

Once the confrontation occurred, it would definitely take some time to get additional squads on scene and set-up a perimeter that includes a large golf course and green space with lots of trail access while also trying to determine if Boelter just barricaded himself and turn things into a standoff situation.

While the timing of events ultimately did not help Hortman or her husband, and it sucks that Boelter got another 36 hours or so of freedom, I'm glad that his plan got thwarted before other people on his "manifesto" got hurt.

Now that he is in custody it will be interesting to see how a trial plays out.

It will be interesting to learn how he got from the scene of the shootings back to near his home more than 50 miles away without the vehicle he abandoned after he was confronted.

There was definitely the second vehicle that was found near his final location. Whether he prepositioned it back near the crime scene or had a getaway driver is unknown.
