SWMBO has decided that sell or stay, we're done burning wood and will move to a pellet stove. Less mess, less labor, happy wife, happy life.
So, I put the 7+ cords of split, dry hardwood I have stacked up under cover on C-list. First responder showed up on schedule, wrote me a (good...) check for the whole stack and will pick it up a truckload at a time over the next few weeks. He'll be using it to supply a wood-fired pizza oven at his tourist trap over in Bah Hahbah.
I was expecting to have to dribble it out a cord here and a pickup load there. He's happy to have some seasoned wood, I'm happy not to have to frig with it.
Be careful when following the masses. Sometimes the M is silent.

I live in the DFW area. I wouldn't even think about using Craig's list. At least three people have wound up dead in this area dealing stuff through it in the past year.

I sold a motorcycle yesterday on Craigslist, and it was a smooth transaction. I did, however, have my .45 Shield in my pocket just in case, along with backup in another vehicle watching the transaction.
I've got a pontoon up for sale also, and hopefully this one goes as smoothly.
I still would have taken cash. And hopefully, he didn't come to your house to look at the wood?
Sorry, I'm just paranoid. i hope you keep safe.
"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

If I lived in or near a major city, I'd be WAAAAAY more cautious.
Which, of course, is one reason I refuse to live in or near a major city...
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ I used to live in the rural Midwest. Miss the small town trust. It is nice.
