I saw the clip on Live PD. It was cool listening to Sticks explain that often, there are cops doing reports and such in that Lodge. Even at the end of the clip, you can hear the handler talk about how he was just there a bit before this took place.

The K9 handler was awesome. "quit being a baby" Razz

Love watching fur missiles work. The most valuable tool a PD could have in my opinion.

I love watching a dog work. I was just disappointed the dog didn't get a chance to really tear into him. Then next time (and there will be a next time I'm sure) he hears "We're gonna let the dog loose!" he will surrender immediately.

Nice lazer dot, but camera cop swept his partner at least once at 1:39, and probably a second time at about 2:07 when the handler heads down the hallway to where the dog had the perp.

To the officers who see this, is this normal, or is this a screw up in clearing the building?

Thanks.

Entertaining video. Clearly from the perp's appearance, he didn't look to be part of a group ensemble, but I found it interesting that only after all of the mayhem and arrest did he note to another officer on the way out the door that someone might want to go back and complete a sweep of the remaining building.

I'm very lax in judgement of "sweeping" from a video. It is really hard to tell exactly where the muzzle is pointed from a 2D camera.

That said, I don't see any sweeping at those times. He tends to have his muzzle pointed left, it seems pretty clear in the hall at 2:07, the muzzle is pointed left at the wall.

I'm not seeing anything of note at 1:39, he has his muzzle way left as he lowers it.

Yes, it can happen though if the officer in front unexpectedly crosses in front of you, that is an error on them. (I'm not a cop, have military CQB experience).

You are correct. I slowed the video down (didn't know I could do that) and looked at 1:39 again. What I thought was the laser dot tracking across the canine officer was in fact a reflection off either the following officer's gun, or something on his hands. At normal speed, it looks like the laser dot tracks across the canine officer from butt to ankle. You are correct that in reality, the gun is pointed sharply to the left when the following officer lowers it.

Thanks for the clarification.

Who's a good boy? Good dog!
TPD has a nice Lodge Hall.
And body cams are working out to be overwhelmingly pro police. But in this video, mounting your cam in a position that it is blocked by your hands is not optimal. A better mount would be above the shirt pocket on either side.
