It was three years ago in June that I posted that my son left MEPS for Parris Island to begin his transformation into a Marine.

3 years ago:


Last week, he was promoted to Sergeant of the Marines in Okinawa.

Congrats to him, seems like he is making rank quick to make E-5 in three years. Just curious, do they still pin on the rank (I.e. leaving the backing to the pins off and pounding them on)? I went to a joint service tech school and saw a Marine officer pin on a Marine Corporals rank like that. When we graduated EOD school all the instructors pinned on our EOD badges the same way.
