Pretty sure we were holding out on ourselves too. It didn't become a widespread thing until about 15 years ago. The earliest I remember was about '90 when my dad came home and said "hold my beer and watch this". And I'm pretty that was only because at the time he worked at a cooking oil plant and could get the mass quantities of oil for free.

I live in Kentucky and don't even go there. Yes, its awful. The change of ownership brought with it some awful things. Even the spokesperson speaks with a yankee accent. Just a hint of what's to come. I accept the idea that all of them aren't the same, and that the one's up here are terrible because I think Yum! or whatever is headquartered in Louisville. The city that bribes its basketball players with hookers, amongst other things.

We do go the place from time to time, but its a merged restaurant with the other half being Long John Silver. I do order chicken, but from the LJS menu side. Its just better. I haven't liked it since they changed their way of cutting the chicken up. I used to order two Keel breasts. You got a lot for your money. No secret that when a buyer comes in, the first thing they do is look for a way to save money and make the product cheaper. Pepsi really screwed the pooch with their campaign to do that. Buyers are always sure they have a solution to make the product leader better. They almost always make it worse.

The chicken pot pie is actually pretty good.

This thread pushed me to kfc tonight. Had a nice 3 piece meal. Not great, but pretty good. Ok, now back to the weight loss thread....

I like their chicken pot pies but they only make a certain number of them per day so when they run out, they won't make any more til the next day (at least at the 1 near me). My opinion is that Cracker Barrel has the best chicken pot pies. As far as the fried chicken, I like the original recipe better than the crispy. They have really good chocolate chip cookies but I swear they are smaller each time I go.

Call me crazy but I have no problem chomping down on a few pieces of KFC dark meat, original recipe.

I used to like KFC but either I've changed or their recipe changed. A relative likes it and often brings it for us to share.

Their cole slaw is different from store to store.

I prefer their crispy over their regular as their regular tastes soggy.

I prefer popeye's.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." The nearest KFC is 4 miles from my house, but there is a Popeye's about 1/4 mile away. So I normally eat Popeye's (2 mild breasts, small red beans and rice, small green beans, and 4 extra biscuits). I wish their biscuits were not buttermilk ones, but they don't have a lot of that horrible taste, so I get them anyway.

On road trips I do sometimes eat at KFC, and have usually been satisfied. I agree that the pot pie is good.

I don't care much for Church's, but I go maybe once a week to CFA--love their standard sandwiches and their chicken soup!
