Not sure if I should be proud or scared. Today was registration and official practice for the Arizona Cup. A male archer from Europe with a very heavy accent looked at my daughter and condescendingly asked, "Little girl, are you sure you can shoot that far?"

Her response?

"Let's go! One arrow, closest to the X, twenty bucks!"

Yes, she was betting her lunch money that I gave her.

Well, the European was off in the 9 ring and my daughter absolutely center punched the X. Then he tried to renege on the bet. Not a smart thing to do on my daughter's home field. Other archers, coaches, and parents witnessed it, stepped up and absolutely shamed him into paying. It was hilarious to watch, one man being surrounded and a chorus of Hans and Franz imitations and insults being slew.

I was worried about our daughter being an, "Archery Orphan" this weekend on her own with my wife and I both working the tournament. After seeing her extended archery family support her, I'm not really worried about what the rest of the weekend may bring.

My daughter can deflate your daughter's soccer ball.

That is Excellent! You don't have to worry yet about the Hustler thing though...

Next up, she will lose the first bet, just barely... Then smile sweetly, and ask, "Want to go Double or Nothing?" Big Grin

Her response was so full of WIN though, it is priceless! Please give her a big hug from Don!

Damn! No don't give her a cue stick next! LOL

Too bad her interaction and the follow up from her support group wasn't captured on video. That would have been great to watch!

In your last thread I mentioned that Maya was mature beyond her years. She proved me right.

What an awesome progression. She used to take a grumpy old man for five dollar bets. Now she's taking other competitors for twenties. Big Grin
