As homelessness explodes in America's blue cities, something's getting harder to harder to hide now:

The curious rise of homelessness spending, which rather counter-intuitively, seems to be making the homelessness problem worse.

In Los Angeles, it's getting pretty bad, according to Time magazine.

...

Really...

Orange County cleaned up the camp

Actually Orange County cleaned only a rather small section (2.5 miles) of the areas shown.

I returned from the area a week ago---I can assure you that there are plenty of "homeless encampments" present.
Since it takes a year or more to clear the legal hurdles in order to do a general clean-up of a specific area--- the encampments grow faster than they can be cleaned out. And this is in Orange County where some are still trying to clean them up.

Meantime LA City Government accuses other municipalities of attempting to shift the homeless burden to LA by cleaning up their own city areas.

My son uses the many LA area bikeways at least weekly and given the loose dogs, people under the influence of alcohol and drugs, mental problems, and human excrement, etc., & etc.. it is like playing dodgem, and I think actually quite dangerous.

Yeah. This goes into the NoShitSherlock file. Operant conditioning applies to groups as well as to individuals.

I just got back from a week in N. California and will personally verify that everything you saw is 100% accurate. Temps were 70-105F when I was there so I can only imagine how those camps smell.

I saw some nice unique fixer-uppers in the video linked in the OP. A CA real estate agent would probably list it thus:

"15 yo home built by world renowned builder Eureka situated near a popular outdoor recreation area with plenty of great neighbors. Perfect location for shut-ins with medical needs - many local pharmacists deliver to your home. Experience the glamour of Southern California living! Don't miss out on this unique fixer-upper opportunity - $180,000"

I toured Northern California in July last year and was in San Francisco a couple of days. Apparently my tour group was carefully steered around all that because I saw very little of it. We concentrated on Fisherman's Wharf, Golden Gate Park, and a cruise of the Bay. I stayed in the Marriott Marquis Downtown hotel and did not wander far from it. I did visit the St. Patrick's Catholic Church right next to the hotel, though--very pretty inside.

A bit off topic but I think should be brought up. I look at Zillow's listings in certain Detroit neighborhoods. I love the build quality of some of the houses of the 1920's to 1930's and there are some gems in the rough there.

This one takes the cake though, a notice put regarding respecting the privacy of rental tenants and to please not disturb them is understandable and a commonly seen request. This one was the first I've seen like this though "Investor Special..! House has a ton of potential, just need some TLC. Please do not bother the squatters in the house. "As Is" BATVAI. QCD."

Those camps have no sanitation, no running water. All those people. Isn't that an environmental disaster? What happens to all the waste?

That’s part of the reason we left Oly/Lacey/Tumwater. It was just a place we didn’t want to be anymore. Glad to be in a better place in Arizona. I hope you can escape soon brother.

Uh... yeah!
Turning California into a 3rd world shithole...
It's what socialism does.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."
-- Justice Janice Rogers Brown
