Good morning, SF. I'm here with questions again. I was recently helping set up a Simplisafe system, and the homeowner had added the video doorbell. In the process of setup, I noticed that the doorbell unit (the box on the wall in the hallway) was making a growling/buzzing sound. I don't know how else to describe it, other than it sounds like the mechanical timer I sometimes plug into an outlet ahead of the percolator, but louder. One thing led to another, and I ended up bringing the system to my house for some additional setup. I've just removed my standard doorbell button and installed the Simplisafe device, and decided to take a moment for some coffee. While sitting here, I noticed sort of a low grumble... not unlike Mom's ancient electric clock. As I walked around the house I passed by the doorbell unit. Guess what! That's where the sound is coming from. So it appears there's something in the Simplisafe device circuit that has the bell-ringer solenoid partially energized (?) all the time, creating the buzzing sound. Questions: 1. Why? 2. Is it normal? 3. Has anyone else here noticed this? 4. What else should I know? Thanks, all. As always, I appreciate the help and guidance. God bless America.

Mine doesn't. Check short circuit across bell terminal. It is possibly a short with resistance. ------- Trying to simplify my life...
