Donald Rumsfeld has passed away.
Weather you liked him or not I will always remember seeing him help evacuate the wounded away from the Pentagon after the September 11 attack.
Rest in peace sir.

RIP, sir. Thank you for your service to this country...

It turns out Rumsfeld was stationed at Glenview NAS ((IL) until he went to Congress in '62. So I grew up with him flying overhead as the landing path was our road that led to the runway a mile plus up the road. Nice to put a face on one of those countless pilots from back in the day.

RIP Donald Rumsfeld.

He served his country in the Navy as a pilot, as a representative and then under two different presidents from two separate eras. It had been quite awhile since this nation had such a force in a presidential cabinet, the nation's press had a difficult time dealing with him and in many instances, it was refreshing to hear & see.

He was the right guy to be a post-Cold War SecDef but, highly questionable for his handling of post 9/11 events and the subsequent actions. In my mind, he'll forever be tied to the word, 'transformationalism', and what it's done to the Navy.

RIP Mr.Rumsfeld

I refuse to criticize a man just because he got whipsawed by history. He was hired to drastically pare down and modernize the military, he generated a lot of hostility among the brass hats for doing so, and he was only then asked to pivot and deal with the global war on terror.

RIP, jefe. I'll always keep a copy of the book of poetry you never realized you'd written.

I was not as into politics then as I am now, but I just remember how much the Left hated him. Always made me think he must have been doing something right.

I believe he was both the youngest and oldest Secretary of Defense ever, under Gerald Ford and W. Bush, respectively.

The man understood both his office & role perfectly. Has never been another like him. I truly admired his handling of the media. Rest easy, sir.
