pbslingerI'm Turning Into a KC Lover
Western Missourian my whole life, been spending much time in Wisconsin since I've got an almost 1 year old grandson. Missouri does have some of the friendliest people in my experience.

Really down to earth folks. We're actually thinking about buying property in the farm areas a ways out from the city and retiring there.
That is all.
Shhhhh!!!!!!!!! Don't tell everybody. Everybody will want to come here.

Scuba Steve SigYou guys are making me homesick. They have some good BBQ, but it's no Pappy's in St Louis.

bionic218Come on, then. We could always use more gun friendly immigrants.
KC - famous for BBQ...as long as you never go to Memphis. Joes is good, but if you ever make it down the alley to Rendevous in Memphrica, you'll realize you've been duped. KC has got nothing on those boys.

There are ginormous caves being used for a lot of commerce and business. Really awesome.
Check it out.
The Hunt Midwest Subtropolis is the best-known underground facility, a former limestone mine. End of January every year it's open to the public for the Groundhog Underground 5K/10K. My daughter lives in KCMO and we've run the 10K six years now.

smlsigI had a chance to go through KC and stop for some BBQ as well.
I have to agree with the BBQ and the people being very friendly as well.
I also really like a good NC BBQ but it its a different taste.

bigeinkcmoI lived in KC for about 5 years and then moved back to CO about 15 years ago. I enjoyed the time. My company moved me there and I lived in downtown KCMO for a while, the Plaza and then bought a place in Overland Park. It's a good place to get ahead in that pay seemed to keep up with cost of living. I never really fell in love but did enjoy the dining, the BBQ of course and the pretty moderate weather. And the friendly people!
Favorite BBQ places were Joe's in old Overland Park, Jack Stack, and LCs. We used to love a place called Marco Polo's/Jaspers down on 103rd for sandwiches. Surely a lot has changed but I'd hope some of the longstanding places are still around and doing well. Stroud's chicken was awesome. Le Fou Frog (French) was outstanding. So many good places. Back in the day the Plaza III steakhouse was delicious but I think that may be gone or not the same now.
