Just got back from a trip to Kansas City. We inherited my mother in laws house so we drove back to do some maintenance and upkeep. Gotta tell ya, Mo has some of the nicest people on the planet. Really down to earth folks. We're actually thinking about buying property in the farm areas a ways out from the city and retiring there.

That is all.

Is Bryant's still there? I was in KC about 25 years ago and we went there for barbecue.
I thought it was pretty good.

Can't say it's the best ever but in the top 10. Wait a second, it was the best ever. That's what we ate for dinner every night. The rotten bastards weren't open for breakfastBig Grin

Edit: Jack Stack had really good service and great food.

On a recent trip to KC, visited Jack Stack and had a burnt end sandwich with a side of corn & cheese (Mac & cheese, only with corn instead of pasta), good eats!

My sister is visiting from KC for a few days. She says Jack Stack's, Arthur Bryant's, Gates are not even in the top five BBQ joints nowadays.

There's a lot underground. Really.

There are ginormous caves being used for a lot of commerce and business. Really awesome.

Check it out.

Joes KC. That’s the best BBQ in town. But that’s like saying who your favorite kid is. There are probably 25 joints in KC that would be the best in a similar town.

Yep.
As long as you don't live in the City (either KC or STL), you'll love it. Visit the City during daylight... and go home.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

I did sadly. His band is a regular here on the Casino circuit. The tickets for admittance are pretty cheap.

Being a KC native, the top 3 bbq joints IMHO are Jack Stack, Kansas City Joes(formerly ok Joes), and Q39. My favorite sauce is gates hot. Lots to love in KC.

I lived there for 14 years. Enjoyed the entire time. But left 19 years ago. I'm sure much has changed. But your comment about the people held true for me too for the entire time I lived there.

I was north of the river. Once you've been there a while you know what that means.

Arthur bryants and gates have fallen by the wayside. Its just awful. Joes is good, q39 is good. Jackstack has good sides. LCs is probably my favorite. My problem is my buddy was the a KC bbq champion 3 years back and eating that bbq right odd the smoker is way better then the above.
