Well it's almost done and I didn't see a recent discussion. The crowds are back and so is the heat. Amazing scenery and some bikes.

Best race in years. The way this thing started I was sure Pogi was unstoppable. Jumbo finally wore him down. I think he got a little too confident at the start and burned too much energy on unnecessary attacks. If he had Jumbos team he could get away with it, but he really only has McNulty.

The fact that it is no longer covered widely, meaning it is restricted to limited appeal pay to see sites, has taken it away from many who would otherwise enjoy the spectacle. In my view they've shot themselves in the foot. Certifiable member of the gun toting, septuagenarian, bucket list workin', crazed retiree, bald is beautiful club! USN (RET), COTEP #192

Cycling has never really been huge here anyways. Most people don't seem to understand the tactics, they just see some dudes on a bike. Americans don't have the attention span to follow 21 days of races.

Haven't missed a stage yet. Enjoying it very much.
It's aired on USA network ever day. Furthermore, I love the fact that today I can now watch from the very start of the race to the very end, where in previous years when it was broadcast on NBC you'd only be able to jump in at some point after the race had already started. I still pay for cable so with that I have a Peacock account. With Peacock I can watch the whole race live or whenever I want. Or you can tune into USA network normally around 8am eastern time to watch the race already about an hour in. ~Alan Acta Non Verba NRA Life Member (Patron) God, Family, Guns, Country Men will fight and die to protect women... because women protect everything else. ~Andrew Klavan

Disappointing in that Cavendish and Alaphilippe didn't make any teams. Wout van Aert is a beast. _____________________________ "A free people ought not only to be armed and disciplined but they should have sufficient arms and ammunition to maintain a status of independence from any who might attempt to abuse them, which would include their own government." Like I said, limited appeal pay to see sites... Peacock and USA. And yes I used to enjoy watching it when broadcast free much like I once was able to enjoy off road vehicle rally events. And the coverage left much to be desired. And that's an understatement. I much prefer what we get now, as I'm sure is the case with a huge majority of diehard fans. ~Alan Acta Non Verba NRA Life Member (Patron) God, Family, Guns, Country Men will fight and die to protect women... because women protect everything else. ~Andrew Klavan

Agreed that over the years the coverage got worse and worse still.... When I pop open Peacock+, it seems 80% of their content requires a subscription. They didn't start out that way. As for USA I believe you need cable. And their content was degrading back before I cut the cord. Folks are faced with having to subscribe to any number of services just for a single "specialty" they offer. I cut the cord and refuse to play this game. I agree, and the reason I have not watched the race ... the same is happening with the America's Cup.

It's not about attention span. NASCAR, golf, & baseball are slow-paced sports w/ esoteric tactics that get wide coverage in the US. The difference is that mainstream America won't get invested in a foreign sport such as cycling or soccer unless an American(s) is a favorite to win. There is no LeMond or Armstrong contending in the TdF; therefore, interest & coverage in the US wanes.

Stage 21 float trip into Paris and cobblestone sprint finish as the sun begins its decent is iconic. Congrats to Jumbo-Visma. Sepp Kuss will be fun to watch.

As an avid biker I used to watch religiously. The B.S. with doping and especially Lance Armstrong’s fall from grace, I gave up on it. Has anything ‘really’ changed or is it still a dope-fest, just covered up better than it was in the past? ___________________________ All it takes...is all you got. ____________________________ For those who have fought for it, Freedom has a flavor the protected will never know ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒΕ

600+ views. 475 of them to figure out what TdF meant.

Would Americans tune into the World Series if it was the best of 21 games? What about whoever scores the most points out of 21 Super Bowls? Would Americans tune into 21 days of Nascar races (perhaps they might on this one)? While there was no American that was a contender, there were Americans that played some pretty big roles this year. The US has some pretty good young talent.

Yep, the girls have had me getting up early all week. I was happy to see Cecilie take a stage. That tight Peleton is a time bomb. Tough as nails they are.
