Sounds like the claim is already filed with your company so I think you might as well let them handle it. If you've been a loyal customer for years without a claim, the impact should be negligible.

The rental car company will try to charge for diminished value, admin fees and loss of use, none of which are usually paid out by the insurance company so it'll probably be a choice of your insurance paying $700 or you paying $1200 after they add in all their extras.
