She's doing what any smart athletes or celebrities would do. There's no real benefits to her for picking a side. Didn't Michael Jordan allegedly said "Republicans buy sneakers too."? If it weren't for her equally famous teammate taking a stand, many would be singing her praises for staying above this non-sense.

That said, I hope more retired NBA players join in on this. Come on Iverson, we know you need $$$ for child support. PRACTICE! Razz

@Gustofer When she fights back, they foul her out.

The commissioner just walked back her last foul, or she would have had an automatic suspension.

They are rigging the game against her on purpose.

The NBA made 1/2 dozen rule changes because of Wilt Chamberlain.

Without the changes, he so dominated the game that it was impossible to stop him.

So instead of letting everyone take a free shot at Clark, they should adjust the game or get better players.

Putting in old NBA players is going to be a slaughter.

Turning it into the NBA senior league. It may turn into basketball worth watching.

Because (1) people who follow sports understand that the goal of goons physically abusing stars is to get the stars to retaliate and get thrown out of games, and (2) they would all pile on her in a heartbeat and inflict career ending injuries.

It's an old story, oft-repeated in professional sports. Teams have to bring in enforcers to defend their stars. Except the physical abuse of CC is next level - and truly hypocritical given the financial advantages all the players in the league have reaped from her presence.

The abuse is exacerbated by the fact that she is straight and white, on top of basic jealousy. Which is how this ties back into the "inclusivity" that spawned this thread. Heck, there is literally video of Brittany Griner shirtless because she does not have breasts.

Yes he did and he said it in jest, on the team bus, while everyone was bantering. So it’s a half truth. The real truth is he did want to be in politics, or in controversy. He wanted his “talk” to be on the court. He knew he was a basketball player, and that’s where he wanted to make the difference. He never wanted to be a damn political activist. He put his effort on the court and that’s why he is the greatest team sports athlete to ever play in any sport, ever.

Agree that he'd wipe the floor with any WNBA player, but at 65 years old severe orthopedic issues would be his real competition. He's not just 65, he's a 65 year old who played with a reckless abandon diving for balls, etc. so he's more of a "high mileage" 65 yo.

I doubt his body has a 44 game season in it even with competition equivalent to a 14 year old male. Plus, I speculate they'd be crueler to him than they are to CC.

The WNBA on the court is compiled of angry black lesbian women who don't like the white girls coming in and dominating their sport. As Sophie said, call it what it is, racism.

Above them are angry white lesbian coaches and GM's. They are all angry. They can't be comfortable in their own skin even when they are successful playing in a professional sports league earning far more money than what their level of intelligence would get them in the privates sector.

To add insult to injury it’s interesting that when he was in jail in Russia he was in a men’s jail.

The Russians figured it out and didn’t tolerate his crap.

We need to start doing the same.

The commissioner Cathy Englebert is a god awful leader. She sold off 16% of the league to private equity thinking she was some kind of wall street tycoon doing advanced financing. You could hear her congratulating herself in interviews, when all she did is sell off part of the league, the move wasn't any more advanced than selling off to a payday lender or a pawnshop. She's not any better at figuring out what a woman is.

Today we stand united for equity, inclusion, and authentic representation in women’s sports.

Enes Kanter Freedom, Royce White, Brock Pierson and Will “Willamina” Van Booraem are proud to serve as the faces of this vital movement for Transgender Awareness in the WNBA. We believe every athlete deserves the opportunity to compete as their true authentic self, free from outdated binary barriers.

The WNBA has long championed diversity, equity, and belonging. Now is the time to take the next historic step: fully open the league to transgender women and gender diverse athletes. Lived experience matters. Visibility matters. Inclusion is not optional, it is essential to the future of the game.

We respectfully call on the WNBA, its players, and its leadership to embrace a more inclusive future. Let us play. Let us compete. Let us belong.

Together, we can create a league that truly reflects the beautiful spectrum of gender identity and affirms the right of every woman to participate.
