Our 20+ year old Sundance spa is about done. Had great service for all those years.

My wife needs one for a condition she has. I rarely use it anymore. Once in a while though.

So stopped today and looked at two. Maybe the two most expensive. The Hot Springs and the
Bull Frog. Holy crap. $7-8k for basically a two person. We don't need a big one.

So I am wondering what those in the know have to say. Surely there are cheaper ones. But are they crap. I am a bit shell shocked at this point. That is about twice what I figured a 2 person would be. But the guys says those models are what is selling? The heck?

I've seen them on sale at Costco but you'll have to wait for the right season.

They depreciate terribly. Should be able to find one less than a year old for half the price.

Mrs.BurtonRW and I see the Softub brand spas at home shows all the time. They seem very solid, nothing flashy, and around $3,500 for the basic model, IIRC.

The last Hot Tub I had was 25 years ago and I think I gave three grand back then. As someone mentioned, you should be able to find a like new used one for half the cost of new.

old rugged cross, where are you located. We have a Hot Springs two person tub two years old and it was installed inside in our Garden Room which has it's own HVAC system. It has the real thick insulated fold back cover. Bought it for my wife who had double knee replacement and we don't use it any more. All filters and spring/fall cleaning maintenance was done by the installing dealer.

Will let it go for about half of what we paid.

Watching this thread.
I really just want a tub that is big enough and deep enough to really fully submerge for a hot soak. I don't even want any jet or bubbles.

Hot tubs seem to be bigger and more expensive than I remember. Here's a used one, five years old, asking $17,000.

A few years ago I bought a one year old Sundance four person tub for half price. Found it on Craigslist.

I did it myself. I had a flatbed ATV trailer and a couple guys to slide it around. No problem. I did the wiring myself and I was stewing the next day.

Sundance.... the best of the best. I've had two of them in the past 25 yrs, great tubs. It's all about filtration. I personally like clean water not the stew affect.Bite the bullet and buy a Sundance.

We are on our second hot tub. First one was a cheap budget deal I can't even remember the name of it now. Got about 5 years out of it though.

Second on and the one we currently have is a Hot Springs. They are top of the line imo.
We dropped about 8 grand. If you want a tub and are planning on getting a lot of use and enjoyment out of it I'd spend the money and not go cheap.

If you want simple and one person at a time with no water chemistry then find a bath tub. I found one for $25. I bought a propane Hayward pool heater $750 and a 1/8hp pump filter combo $200. Add a few bucks for plumbing and you are ready to go.

Fill it with garden hose and turn heater on. It's ready to go in 15min @104 degrees. When done drain and refill as needed. 100lb propane tank lasts along time.

I've been running this system for 5 years now. I did leave it setup for one winter, but when it goes below zero the heater had problem which I had known it would as the heater instruction said not to use it below 20f.

That is the best right there.
