Sad she lost her son, sad about her mental conditions.
Enjoyed the talent she chose to share for others to enjoy.

Very Sad the pedophiles got to her.more sad they got away with it and more than likely are still getting away with .
it.

She was a loon who was more trouble than she was worth. I don't care about her music because she was using her fame for activism, which made her an activist, not a musician. I don't get my politics from entertainers or athletes.

We really need a like button.

Yeah, haunted by her own actions and decisions.

She was a great talent. May she find peace.

Death brings peace to everyone. If there is a conscious entity we call God, He would not create the place we know as Hell. A creator would not imbue us with all our faults and then punish us for eternity for indiscretions which occur in the blink of a cosmic eye.

Every sentient being that dies "goes" (for lack of a properly descriptive term) to the same "place"- every one, every thing, good and bad.

The Hindus say there is no consciousness after death, but they also believe in reincarnation, like a flame being passed from candle to candle. Try getting your mind around that, which seems to be a contradiction.

When you die, you become part of everything, which at its core is pure energy; matter is merely condensations of this energy. "You" are not there anymore, but you are one with the source of all things, and that thing is what Aquinas called the "Prime Mover" and what we call "God".

That's what happened to Ms. O'Connor and that's what's going to happen to you. All things are eternal.

Despite her nuttiness she did have a great voice. She also claimed she had suffered physical abuse from her mother as a child so she definitely had issues.

She was at least a decade ahead of her time bringing attention to the child molesting by the Catholic priests. How and when she went about with her SNL act may have not been perfect. But she had a national TV stage and she ended up being correct, just years early as noted. I can separate her music from her nuttiness and her activism against child abuse

That's why I can't stand Bono from U2. He's such a wannabe John Lennon.

Lennon was incredibly talented but a huge hypocrite.

*cough cough* Bruce *cough* Springsteen. I don't consider that ass-hat even talented. JMHO. As much as Para hates someone bringing politics into an apolitical thread, I loathe that SOB, et.al., just as much or more for doing exactly that to the music industry. JSTFU already...my political leanings are not swayed by entertainers or athletes. PERIOD...

By its very subject, this thread is not apolitical, but are you saying you thought it was, and you went ahead with politics anyway? You can add that to your list of things to never, ever do in this forum.

This is especially true since I have now twice issued cautions that since this is a chronic problem, I'm going to start handing out disciplinary action in an effort to finally get it through to members that this rule is here to stay and that it will be enforced rigorously and consistently.

If every person who suffered some form of abuse as a child allowed it to determine their behavior, the world would be in worse shape than it is already. There is resiliency in the human character and the strong and intelligent overcome such things as past harm.

I don't care about her excuses or her reasons, not one single bit do I care about that stuff. She was an annoying, perpetually preachy bitch, and for that reason, I don't even care about her talent.

OK...sensing the admonishment, I believe it is being pointed out this thread IS apolitical. The double-negative is kinda throwing me. "...this thread is not apolitical", so therefore it IS political??

Yikes...I'm not trying to upset the apple cart or be obtuse (honestly), but I'm confused now. Haven't eaten all day...maybe my two brain cells aren't clicking just yet. Thanks...

Whether a person is stupid or dead, it doesn't effect them. it only effects the ones around them.

What he's saying is that O'Connor - by virtue of being a political activist - makes this thread political.

This is where my signature goes.
