The gap for platinum plugs looks fine and you'll need some anti-seize.
They were a bit of a struggle to remove and I did use anti-seize. I’m a big believer in it. Especially on lug nuts and the back of alloy wheels so they don’t meld into the rotor.

I’ve only used full synthetic Mobil One oil since day one and change every 10k miles or 12 months, whichever comes first. It never used oil until about a year ago. I have to add 1 quart at 5k after the last oil change.

She runs well and even better with the new plugs.

Plug #4 speaks the truth.

I don't think you should use any kind of lubricant on lug nuts but if you must, you need to reduce the tightening torque by some amount (around 30% IIRC).
And none on NGK plugs.

hrcjonThose are way,way past the replace date. 3 seem fine but #4 has some issues (which cylinder).
The reason it costs a bunch to change these is you normally have to jack up the engine to get to one of them.

They don't say anything. They are incapable of speech.
If the car ran well before, better now (not surprising considering the wear on them), and gets 5000 miles to a quart of oil, don't overthink things. Also, IMO, anti-seize on new spark plugs is not necessary. The plating on the threads is sacrificial and acts as its own anti-seize. I have a lot more problems with coils and boots getting stuck - sometimes leaving pieces behind in a 6" deep hole, talk about fun - than spark plugs (provided they were installed properly the last time, not cross-threaded or left loose).

shovelheadFar right with that type of deposits I suspect valve seal, guide, stem or a combination of all three components wearing. At 5k a quart I personally wouldn’t be overly concerned for oil consumption but this could at some time lead to a degradation of catalytic converter function and life.
