Yes, but in the linked video they mentioned that he got “entangled in tracing wire”. Letting go might not have helped.

What a horrific way to go. I hope he drowned instead of being eaten alive.

Unless there were other sharks nearby hoping to capitalize on an easy meal, this guy was likely dragged down and drowned. Great whites are not like the movie “Jaws”. They don’t hold grudges, get angry, or try to take revenge. The minute it felt the loss of resistance from the line, it undoubtedly moved to vacate the area.

Maybe in and around Australia, but that was not my experience with Australian women in London. Now the Kiwi women, that was another story. Eek

The sea was angry that day, my friends, like an old man trying to send back soup in a deli!

I got about fifty feet out and suddenly, the great beast appeared before me. I tell you he was ten stories high if he was a foot. As if sensing my presence, he let out a great bellow. I said, "Easy, big fella!" And then, as I watched him struggling, I realized that something was obstructing its breathing. From where I was standing, I could see directly into the eye of the great fish.

So the fish won?

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

Police say missing fisherman Paul Barning pulled overboard by mako shark

Mako shark, not Great White. The shark was caught and reeled in and didn’t pull the guy overboard or attack anyone in any way. The guy got tangled up in other line and went over board while the shark was being reeled in.

Well like any story the facts emerge later. This article says Great White Shark and is where I originally got my information: I then went to Australian news to confirm the story that the incident actually happened before posting here.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/ne...l-barning-shark.html

"It is understood he was attacked by a great white shark after entering the water, about 55km offshore."

"The incident comes just days after a group of fishermen had a close encounter with two great white sharks in the same stretch of ocean."

"After moving approximately 15km away from the shark, the fishermen spotted an even larger one about 30 minutes later, measuring around five metres long.

'Earlier, it was chewing on the corner of the boat, it was chewing on its side gunnel,' he said.

'It's so big that it managed to pull the boat down into the water a bit - big fish, small boat.'

"He said that having so many close encounters with great white sharks in one day was 'rare."

What a horrifying way to go. Drowned or not, having sharks in the water would probably give me a heart attack alone.
