OK, I don't see a mustache-twirling supervillain shutting down the grid with the push of a button. I could see it being "socialized" (i.e., nationalized) and subsequently falling into disrepair in the manner of Venezuela's. Because of our much larger population, land area and decentralized system, the odds of this are extremely, even incredibly, low, but they aren't zero.

Maybe they will model the power outage like the Covid Plandemic where only small businesses loose power.
