Mototec, I believe a Chinese company, makes gas powered dirt bikes for kids, and it looks like they can transport adults, depending on weight. 50cc and up. Two stroke and 4-stroke, which are more in cost. Small enough to put into the back of a pickup truck or even a car trunk, 50lbs in weight, etc. Hell, I think Amazon sells these and delivers to your door.

I can't believe anything would be comfortable to ride between railroad rails, over the ties. I doubt any light-weight, inexpensive scooter will long stand up to the punishment of doing so.
